Being an Oklahoma Kid is one of the best things in the world. The thing about growing up in Oklahoma is that you can move 10,000 times and you never change. You'll love the places you live and you'll complain about it, but being from Oklahoma is truly part of your DNA. Here are thirty things you know if you grew up in the Sooner State.

1. You've probably spent what seems like half your life in a tornado shelter

2. At some point someone has asked you "Jeet?" and you know exactly what they are talking about

3. If you live close enough, you probably spend time in "the city" on the weekends

4. You were raised a Sooner or a Cowboy, not both

5. Two words: Lake Weekends

6. All Of The Red Dirt

7. Chances are one of your parents grew up in the same town you did

8. You hear yourself saying phrases that non-Okies don't understand

9. Sonic Drinks Are A Religion

10. Coke is a generic term

11. You can call out a small town anywhere because of the Oklahoma Holy Trinity

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace.
