17 Signs Of Spring Semester Stress

In the wake of finals week for college students, a look back on the second semester of the year in general reveals that the stress being experienced now is nothing all that new. The Spring semester is - for freshmen to seniors - a trying semester. As to whether that is because of our own doing or not, it simply has a way of breaking down the strongest of both brawn and brains. Some hypothesize it is due to the blissful summer tasted during Spring Break, but most likely it's because second semester is just generally faster and shorter in terms of length - making the lifespan of a perfect grade quite short. One slip is all it takes to ruin and never recover from it. But that is just one of the many other issues concerning the spring semester.

1. As a college student, you're probably also very broke after Spring Break

2. Your motivation is also shot after break too

3. Lagging behind in the syllabus? Oh well, your professors will have your class done with the book in two weeks.

4. Besides that, you're also convinced that the teachers have conspired together to make the deadlines and test dates on the same days and/or weeks

5. "There's only one more test left to save my grade?" - said every other confused college student; time blurs during the spring semester

6. Meanwhile, your calculator also becomes your friend as you try to calculate what grade you need on the final to pass your class(es)

7. Social life? HA. Spring Break was your social life. Now it's tears and cold, hard textbooks that surround you 24/7

8. And if that's not bad enough, lectures seem to last longer than usual; sitting still for that long becomes a test you're desperate to pass

9. "I haven't seen you in weeks! Where have you been?" your friends and family ask. "In the library - day and night, in between classes, trying to catch up. Always trying to catch up." *broken sob*

10. Class registration time always hits you, because how are you supposed to know what you will qualify for after this semester?

12. Setting up advisor meetings are also troublesome. Everyone seems to panic and need guidance in life at the same time you do.

13. However, that's probably because you've all stubbornly procrastinated about everything during this semester; procrastination is nobody's friend, but that show was just calling our your name...

14. And you were sick, or were getting sick. Spring Semester weather always has allergies and temperature mood swings messing immune systems up.

15. FAFSA. Your school keeps telling you to reapply for it but, it's just so...disenchanting, for you.

16. Your attendance, too, also seems to hate you. The weather is just so cold and damp sometimes that you're just not gonna wake up in time for class.

17. Caffeine and friends are your essentially your saviors during this semester...or enemies; sometimes they also become distractions too.

Just hang in there, friend - it will all be over soon.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
