17 Reasons Why Fall Reigns Supreme

Three months of pure joy can be summed up in one season: Fall.

Fall is the best season of the four seasons, hands down. You're not sweating in awkward places yet you're not freezing to the point of becoming a White Walker from Game of Thrones. Here are 17 reasons why I believe fall is the superior season and reigns supreme, and no, not just because of sweaters and Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

1. No more damn bugs!

Good lord I hate bugs. Wasps, mosquitoes, mayflies, you name it. Kill them with fire. Okay, maybe not bees. They do more good than harm for our environment. Everything else can leave. I lost track of how many bug bites I got this year.

2. Sweater Weather

Bless sweaters. Bless oversized hoodies. Bless actually being comfortable walking to class. I can't wait to break out and expand my sweater collection, that's for sure!

3. Halloween!

Need I say more? Costumes, costume parties, candy, trick or treating, candy corn, candy, and hot chocolate and cider. Oh and Stranger Things season two comes out on Oct. 27. Not a bad Halloween weekend, right?

4. Harry Potter season

Seriously! I'm totally due for one! Who doesn't like the magical world of HP?

5. Season Premieres

Hoard your Eggo Waffles, Stranger Things returns Oct. 27 on Netflix! Along with Stranger Things, many other shows will return as well. American Horror Story is officially back and Supernatural returns with their 13th season. Seriously, though, I think they need to stop. I also need The Walking Dead to come back like now.

6. Thanksgiving

Food and family and friends. What else could you ask for? Oh, and then we ruin everything by going Black Friday shopping. Seriously, weren't we just thankful for what we already had?

7. Cleveland Cavs games!

NBA season is almost here! As a native Clevelander, I have to cheer for my dudes. I love the Cavs. I will always remember sitting with my grandma growing up and watching every game with her. I'll always remember sitting with my dad during Game 7 last summer and crying hysterically when they broke the Curse after winning the 2016 NBA Finals. Sure, we came up short last year, but anything can happen in Believeland.

8. Baseball playoffs

Even though I now live in Cincinnati, I am not a huge Reds fan. My heart belongs with the Cleveland Indians. I truly believe that after the 22-game win streak, we can win the World Series. I'll make a special trip back for that parade if I have to or am able to because why not?

9. Bearcats Football

I enjoy college football more than NFL. NFL is just a mess. College football is just more competitive. With a new coaching staff, new teams, and new outlook this year, I am more excited about Bearcats football more than ever.

10. Bonfires

Brings me back to my high school marching band days. I miss a good ole bonfire.

11. It's more socially acceptable to wear sweatpants

I hate wearing jeans or shorts half the time. Nothing feels better than rolling out of bed and getting ready to go to class in a wholesome pair of sweatpants. They're like a warm hug for your legs.

12. Seasonal Brews

Now that I am 21, I am extra excited to take part in the family tradition to enjoy a Great Lake's Christmas Ale. It's one of those Cleveland things, but people enjoy it regardless. I don't drink much to begin with, but enjoying a local holiday classic and tradition with family makes it worth it. PS: If you're in Cleveland, go to the Great Lakes Brewing Company. Even if you don't drink, they have really good food and the area is full of things to do. Just saying. There are others for the fall, I'm sure, but I don't drink often so I can't comment much.

13. Comfort Food

Need I say more?

14 . New Video Games!

I finally saved up and got a Xbox One S and I could not be more excited. I'm particularly excited for WWE 2k18, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Star Wars Battlefront II, and the console edition of The Sims 4. There are plenty more releases, but those were the ones I could think of off hand. I'm also stoked to try the backwards compatibility stuff going into the new year. I missed out on so many games in the last few years.

15. Cider. Cider Everywhere.

I'm referring to both hot cider and adult beverage ciders (again, only 21+ folks can have the hard ciders). My friend recommended I try one and I loved it. I'm a cider girl through and through and fall only makes me happier to enjoy one here and there. I can't say no to Cidergeist out of Rhinegeist right out of Cincinnati.

16. Your pets love cooler weather too.

Seriously. Your fur children have enough fur on them to keep warm. They don't like hot weather either nor is it safe for them when they go outside. Cooler temperatures = happier pets.

17. Pumpkin Spiced Everything!

Alright, sue me for being basic for making this last, but seriously. Can you turn down a Pumpkin Spice Latte during midterm? That's right. I didn't think so. Pumpkin everything has my heart.

Fall reigns grand supreme out of the four seasons. Comfortable weather, equally comfortable clothes, sports, drinks, and pumpkin spice everything make up the best season ever. Now go get a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Enjoy fall, friends!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
