I think we can all admit that one of the only good things about 2017 was the music. Here are some of the highlights of the year.

1. "Bodak Yellow" by Cardi B

"Cardi B, you know where I'm at, you know where I be. You in the club just to party, I'm there, I get paid a fee. I be in and out them banks so much, I know they're tired of me."

2. "Praying" by Kesha

"You brought the flames and you put me through hell. I had to learn how to fight for myself. And we both know all the truth I could tell, I'll just say this is I wish you farewell."

3. "Strip That Down" by Liam Payne

"You know, I used to be in 1D, now I'm out free. People want me for one thing, that's not me. I'm not changing the way that I used to be, I just wanna have fun and get rowdy."

4. "Slow Hands" by Niall Horan

"I just wanna take my time. We could do this, baby, all night, yeah. 'Cause I want you bad, yeah, I want you, baby."

5. "Humble" by Kendrick Lamar

"Show me something natural like afro on Richard Pryor. Show me something natural like a** with some stretch marks."

6. "Why" by Sabrina Carpenter

"Tell me how we're not alike but we work so well and we don't even know why. Funny how the stars crossed right 'cause we work so well and we don't even know why."

7. "Issues" by Julia Michaels

"'Cause I got issues, but you got 'em too. So, give 'em all to me and I'll give mine to you. Bask in the glory of all our problems 'cause we got the kind of love it takes to solve 'em. Yeah, I got issues, and one of them is how bad I need you."

8. "Most Girls" by Hailee Steinfeld

"Most girls are smart and strong and beautiful. Most girls work hard, go far, we are unstoppable. Most girls, our fight to make every day, no two are the same. I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls."

9. "Swalla" by Jason Derulo

"Met her out in Beverly Hills, ay. Dolla got too many girls, ay. Met her out in Beverly Hills, all she wear is red bottom heels."

10. "Sorry Not Sorry" by Demi Lovato

"Now you're out here looking like regret. Ain't too proud to beg, second chance you'll never get and yeah, I know how bad it must hurt to see me like this but it gets worse."

11. "Attention" by Charlie Puth

"You just want attention, you don't want my heart. Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone new."

12. "Castle On The Hill" by Ed Sheeran

"I've not seen the roaring fields in so long. I know I've grown but I can't wait to go home. I'm on my way, driving at 90 down those country lanes singing to 'Tiny Dancer.' And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real. We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill."

13. "Walk On Water" by Eminem

"I walk on water but I ain't no Jesus. I walk on water but only when it freezes 'cause I'm only human, just like you. Making my mistakes, oh if you only knew. I don't think you should believe in me the way that you do 'cause I'm terrified to let you down."

14. "In Case You Didn’t Know" by Brett Young

"In case you didn't know, baby I'm crazy 'bout you. And I would be lying if I said that I could live this life without you. Even though I don't tell you all the time you had my heart a long long time ago."

15. "Galway Girl" by Ed Sheeran

"She played the fiddle in an Irish band but she fell in love with an English man. Kissed her on the neck and then I took her by the hand. Said, 'Baby, I just want to dance' with my pretty little Galway girl."

16. "God, Your Mama, And Me" by Florida Georgia Line

"My love is never gonna run dry, never gonna come up empty, now until the day I die, unconditionally. You know I'm always gonna be here for ya. No one's ever gonna love you more than God, your mama, and me."

17. "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran

"I found a love to carry more than just my secrets: to carry love, to carry children of our own. We are still kids but we're so in love, fighting against all odds. I know we'll be alright this time. Darling, just hold my hand. Be my girl, I'll be your man. I see my future in your eyes ."

Honestly, it was incredibly hard to choose a snippet from each of these songs because they're so good! Here's to another great year in music. Top that, 2018.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
