In a world where you have to compete with music artists such as Beyonce, Jay Z, etc., it's so hard to get the recognition you truly deserve. While some of the artist on this list are getting plenty of airtime on the radio, some don't get the complete recognition they deserve, and others are completely hidden gems.

1. Bruno Mars

This man can sing, play multiple instruments, dance and put on an awesome performance, so why aren't we giving him the credit as a musical genius that he deserves?

2. Solange

Okay, I understand it's hard to get attention when your sister is Queen B, but have you heard Solange's album "A seat at the table"?

3. Janelle Monáe

If you like old school music but really like new school too, Janelle is your girl. From her empowering lyrics to her electric dance moves, she’s definitely a person who deserves more attention in the music industry than what she already gets. Like her mentor (Prince), she doesn't just stick to one music genre, she likes to experiment with them all, and that's what makes her a true musician.

4. Joss Stone

Everyone talks about how great Adele is, but why does no one mention Joss Stone? If you enjoy R&B and Soul music, you’ll enjoy Joss Stone.

5. Janis Joplin

While she was big during her short-lived days, it’s sad that no one really talks about her anymore. Her raspy voice was one of a kind.

6. Tori Kelly

She's a great singer/ multi-instrumentalist and not bad to look at either.

7. Duffy

Wtf, why does it seem like everyone in England can sing?

8. T-pain

We all remember T-pain for his heavy usage of auto-tune, but did you know he can sing? No, like actually sing, and sing well.

9. Lady Gaga

Okay, so you’re probably asking why I put her on the list, but people usually just associate her with the weird costumes she used to wear, what they don’t know is that she was trained by the same vocal coach as Christina Aguilera and was trained in classical piano

10. D'angelo

Just listen to his songs “How does it feel,” "Crusin'" and "Brown Sugar" and tell me you wouldn’t want to hear more of his music.

11. Ed Sheeran

Love him or hate him (Is it possible to hate him?), this guy is a musical genius.

12. Bilal

Watch his 2016 BET awards Prince tribute and you’ll see a little of how powerful his voice is.

13. Jazmine Sullivan

Deny that she is good and you'll probably get the windows busted out of your car.

14. Tamar Davis

You remember Destiny's Child, right? Well here's one of the people who was supposed to be one of the original members. She also stars in plenty of Tyler Perry Madea movies, starred on The Voice and worked alongside with Prince at times.

15. Patrice Lovely

Alright, it's hard to realize who she is without being in full costume, but she plays as Hattie Mae on Madea. Listen to her sing and you won't be disappointed.

16. Stephanie Ferrett

Yet another from Tyler Perry's Madea plays, and all I can say is "damn". Listen to her sing "How can I ease the pain" and listen for the high note at the end.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
