16 Things You Can Relate To If You're A Nanny

Being a nanny is, in my opinion, one of the best summer jobs. Between pool days and rainy day movies, it's usually a pretty low stress type of job.

There's never a dull moment and you probably have lots of funny stories, simply because being a nanny isn't like many other jobs.

Here's a list of things you can probably relate to if you're a nanny:

1. Your work attire rocks.

How many jobs let you wear running shorts and comfy t-shirts? There is no such thing as waking up early to get dressed in this line of work.

2. Goldfish.

Goldfish are a food group. We can't be too sure that crack isn't an ingredient in these things because everyone loves them. You'll definitely eat your weight in them this summer.

3. Pool bags.

You can pack this thing with your eyes closed and your hands behind your back. If you don't go to the pool multiple times a week, you're doing your job all wrong.

4. SUNSCREEN.

You can lather a child head-to-toe in sixty seconds flat. You don't even need to look at a clock to know when they need to reapply, you just feel it in your gut.

5. Dollar movies.

What else are you supposed to do when it rains?

6. Your car is a mess.

I found a fruit snacks wrapper in the back of one of the chairs in November and all I could do was smile because I missed those kiddos.

7. Naps.

You barely make it through your front door at the end of the day before you need a nap. Where do these kids get this energy and why is science not advanced enough to bottle it?

8. Mac and Cheese.

You don't even need to read the instructions or measure the milk, this is second nature.

9. Over packing.

You've become your own mother. The snack bag has enough food to feed a small army anywhere you go in the off chance someone might be hungry.

10. Why?

This is every child's favorite question and usually they ask this question five to seven times in a row.

11. Allotting extra time.

I can get myself out the door in less than twenty minutes, always tack on an extra ten minutes per child when planning ahead.

12. PB & J sandwiches.

You can make one of these in thirty seconds. *Bonus points if you're using almond butter.*

13. Seatbelts.

You will still be checking if everyone has their seatbelt on when you head back to school in the fall because this becomes such a habit.

14. Reading.

You want these little ones brains growing all summer. So, you've all but convinced them they will become super human if they complete their summer reading program.

15. Water parks = anxiety.

It feels like there are 1000+ people here and all hell is going to break loose if someone bumps into one of your nanny kids. No one messes with them, duh.

16. End of the summer = tears.

It's only June and you're already mentally preparing yourself for your last day because you know this is gonna be a hard one. You've spent more time with these kids than your parents most likely and you are leaving a little piece behind.

Being a nanny is easily one of the best jobs. You learn a lot about yourself, kids, and life all while having a lot of fun.

It's tiring, it's funny, it's heartwarming, and it's all worth it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
