16 Signs You Went To An All-Girls School

Don't even think about referring to a group of girls as "guys." Ladies, brave and brilliant girls, and scholar leaders are more acceptable. #allgirlschoolprobs

16 Signs You Went To An All-Girls School

1. You got tired of looking decent for school after your freshman year

Sweatshirts and messy buns were always in style, but god forbid you showed up in a non-school sweatshirt or leggings. And the no-makeup look looked great on everyone.

2. Constantly having to pull up chairs at lunch because there were never enough for you and all your gals #sisterhood

And if that didn't work, you had to squish 12 people into a seven person table.

3. Knowing everyone in your grade and the grade below you

It was normal to know where everyone grew up, what care they drove, the names of their siblings, and even their dog. In some cases, you know some of their most embarrassing moments, pet peeves, or hidden talents.

4. No one cared if you changed in the lounge or outside of the bathroom stalls

Where else were you supposed to change when the lines for the bathroom were SO long?

5. Almost all of the teachers had some kind of quirk

It was weird. It was normal to be different and they preached that. Whether they were overly passionate about Zumba or strongly disliked feet on furniture, you loved them.

6. It was 100% completely normal to start crying or have a mental breakdown in the middle of the hallway

If it was the end of trimester, girls were crying every corner you turned and you weren't even startled. And sometimes, you were that girl crying in hallway over the 89% you got on the last test.

7. "Mental Health Days"

Speaking of mental breakdowns, skipping a day of school for a "mental health day" was your go-to, especially when you needed to finish that English project or didn't feel like sitting through a long assembly.

8. Having to follow super strict, useless and unnecessary rules

What other school threatened to suspend their students if they don't come in the day after prom at 10 in the morning? Or made them write a proposal to wear college sweatshirts and leave campus for lunch?

9. No matter how much you hated your school, you loved participating in those bizarre, 50 year-old traditions

Step Sing, STAR, the Daisy Chain, STIX (man hunt), balloon popping and blindfolded dancing... the list is endless!

10. You lived for spontaneous dance parties and sing-a-longs

Your friends outside of school wondered if you actually went to school because your Snapchat stories were always filled girls screaming and dancing. There was no better way to spend time with your sisters than belting out jams and having dance parties.

11. Having to deal with the lack of proper heating/cooling systems

Even though you paid to go to school, you wondered why it was always freezing in one wing of the building and why some other part of the building was always flooding.

12. Powderpuff and Spirit Week were not a joke

If you thought school spirit was lame, think again. Nothing is more intense than school wide competitions fighting for the ultimate prize of superiority and bragging rights.

13. Your possessiveness over food

After four years of having to push and shove to get a bagel, your ability to survive in a stampede of hungry girls is more impressive than most people.

14. Your school kept Jack Rogers, Vineyard Vines, and J. Crew in business.

When it got too hot for the sweatshirts, you pulled out the Jack Rogers and VV long-sleeves and so did everyone else.

15. Always having to fight for what your class wanted because the administration was corrupt

Even though you couldn't always get what you wanted, coming together to fire that teacher, allow non-school sweatshirts, or tear down the fence for graduation was a bonding experience your grade class will never forget.

16. Although your school was messed up in its own ways, you created an everlasting bond with your classmates that you'll cherish forever

Who knew you would graduate high school with a diploma and 71 sisters?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
