It's here. The time of year when we all actually care about college basketball. According to Fortune, people will spend about 25 minutes a day at work checking up basketball scores and their March Madness brackets. As I'm sure many of you do, I faithfully participate in my family's March Madness bracket competition every year despite the fact that most of my basketball knowledge comes from One Tree Hill and High School Musical. Here are 16 things that I, and I'm sure many of you, have experienced in participating in the appropriately-named March Madness tournament.
1. Waiting for the NCAA tournament to start
2. Watching the team you've been rooting for all season go from being ranked #4 (!!!) to out of the Top 25 by the time selections begin
Yes, Texas A&M, I'm looking at you. This was almost disappointing as November football games.
3. Researching which team to pick to go all the way in your bracket
4. Realizing you forgot to finish your bracket and now you have less than a day to do it
p.s. I only put this GIF in for my dad because he just really loves Adam West as Batman. This one's for you dad, I hope my bracket finally beats yours this year ;)
5. Filling out a March Madness Bracket despite the fact you know absolutely nothing about basketball (aka ME!!)
6. But still kind of trying so you can have the satisfaction of beating your wannabe sports analyst friends and family members
7. The hopeful feeling you still have day the tournament starts
8. Telling others how solid your bracket is this year
9. When your #1 pick loses in the first round
10. Watching your bracket fall apart completely
11. Watching everyone else’s brackets fall apart too
12. When your pick for the underdog, "Cinderella" team goes really far in the tournament
13. Watching the championship game
Even though you probably have already made too much of a mess of your fantasy bracket for the outcome to even matter.
14. When your bracket somehow wins (?!)
So in my dreams.
