Last semester was my first time being in a college environment and trust me, I definitely had some ups and downs. Transitioning from high school to college is something that no one can really prepare you for so it's basically survival of the fittest on campus. There is so much to learn and I am going to share with you a few things that have helped me survive college so far:

1. Be early

This applies to a lot of different things in college. Be early to class, events on campus and handing in assignments. You will be grateful if you do.

2. Learn where everything is

If you do not know where the campus library is by now, you might want to find a map.

3. Save

We all know that sometimes the stereotypical broke college kid persona is sometimes inevitable, but try to save in small ways wherever you can.

4. Get involved

This is coming from the person who would rather sit at home with a tub of ice cream in hand instead of stepping one foot outside of the house. Getting involved on campus helps you meet people, looks great on applications and allows you to pursue your passions.

5. What's sleep?

If you are asking yourself this question, it might be time to take a quick nap. You are going to need sleep in order to function in those really difficult classes.

6. Learn how to sprint (or at least jog)

Because odds are, if you did not follow tip #1, you will definitely be doing some running to class.

7. Sometimes one alarm just isn't enough

Setting an alarm is key to being on time wherever you go, but nothing says panic attack like waking up past a scheduled exam time. Try setting more alarms so that you do not oversleep.

8. Make connections

Meeting new people and leaving a good impression could seriously help lead the way for your future.

9. Never pay full price

This applies to almost everything in college. Instead of buying a brand new textbook, rent them instead. Instead of paying full price for those designer clothes, wait for a sale. This will only help you in the long run.

10. Do not over do it

You are going to be busy enough as it is with classes, try not to overwhelm yourself with extracurriculars and other things.

11.Live in the moment

College will lead you to some pretty amazing experiences, so live it up and make amazing memories.

12. Beat the "Freshman 15"

Eating well in college is not always easy, but try finding healthier alternatives and exercising whenever possible.

13. Learn what to wear

In high school, if you dressed in your best attire every single day, know that sweatpants to class will suffice in college.

14. Take advantage of your surroundings

You are already paying a large amount of money for tuition so if things like tutoring, events on campus, and food are free, take advantage of them.

15. Come prepared

Please, do not be the person that is constantly asking me for a pencil. Make sure you come to class what all of the essential materials.

I hope that following these simple tips will help you like they have helped me survive college for the past few months. So, good luck and do your best to truly make college the best four years of your life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
