As the summer comes to an end, and we prepare ourselves for our next year in school, it is important to think about what is truthful and righteous. Whether you are heading back to college, like myself, or high school, it is important to remember a few things that will help you find your inner strength and push through the school year. The following 15 points will supply you with the confidence you need to make this year the best one yet!

1. Get some rest.

"Then Jesus said, come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden i give you is light."Matthew 11:28-30

2. Do not be afraid.

"I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?" Psalm 56:11

3. Say "please" and "thank you".

"Don't worry about anything. instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Jesus Christ." Philippians 4:6-7

4. Always trust your gut.

"Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, 'This is the way you should do,' whether to the right or to the left." Isaiah 30:21

5. Do what is good for YOU.

"This is what the Lord says- I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow." Isaiah 48:17

6. Be humble.

"So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor." 1 Peter 5:6

7. You are young, but you are POWERFUL.

"Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

8. Celebrate!

"But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised." Psalm 56: 3-4

9. Live the life YOU want to live.

"I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned that secret of living in every situations, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little." Philippians 4:12

10. You might not understand everything.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6

11. But you will succeed.

"May he grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed."Psalm 20:4

12. Eat what you want, when you want.

"So what ever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

13. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

"But to you all who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you." Luke 6:27-28

14. Be kind. Be patient.

"Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. Again I say, don't get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people." 2 Timothy 2:22-24

15. Keep moving forward.

"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you." Proverbs 4: 23-25

16. He is with you every step of the way.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
