Ah, summer is here. Finally. Three months of no school, it's the perfect opportunity to actually go out, explore, and have fun. I always have this idea that I'm going to go out and do something every day when, in reality, I end up sitting on my couch like a potato. But, if you're in my position, have no fear I've got 15 things you can do this summer alone or with friends.

1. Go on a hike

I bet you've heard this a million times (I have too) but seriously go do this. It's a wonderful way to just take a breather, calm down, and just see the beautiful mother nature.

2. Go to a strawberry field near you and get a basket full of them

Honestly, I had never once thought to do this, but after seeing a video of people going to a strawberry field it looks like a ton of fun. Plus, you get some fresh fruit too.

3. Go to a concert

Ah, one of my favorite things to do. Concerts are a day full of fun, why wouldn't you want to go.

4. Have a cookout

Find that perfect summer day, get your family and friends together and make ALLLLLL the food.

5. Find a local cafe you haven't been to and go to it

There are always some hidden gems near you, go find it.

6. Have a lake day

If you have the opportunity, get some friends together and go tubing on a lake, you'll spend the whole day having fun I promise.

7. Travel to a place you've never been to

Whether it's five miles away from you or across the country find that place you've always wanted to visit and go there.

8. Have a movie marathon day

So I know the point of this was to get off the couch and do something but sometimes it's good to just have an entire day dedicated to watching the harry potter movies.

9. Grab a friend or a few and drive somewhere with no destination in mind

OK so I know you're probably thinking about the gas that would be wasted but sometimes those random trips to nowhere can lead you to the best places and you can create some pretty good memories too.

10. Play kickball with a group of people

Get some exercise and find a group of people to play kickball with it can be a lot of fun.

11. Go mini-golfing

I feel like everyone forgets that mini-golfing is a thing but it is and it'sfun.

12. Visit the Zoo

A classic but it seriously never gets old.

13. Make your own slip-n-slide

Seriously this is such an easy thing to do. A few summers back my friends and I successfully made our own. All you need is some tarp, soap, water, and yourself!

14. Smores and a campfire

Yum Yum Yum

15. Go camping (in your backyard)

For some people, they love going out into the woods or to a campground to go camping. But, if that isn't for you there's always the option to set up a tent in your backyard with some friends and camp out there for the night. You can even knock out number 14 and have a campfire too.

I hope you've found these ideas helpful and that they've given you the motivation to go out and do some of them, even if it's only one. I know one things for sure, they're all on my to do list.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
