Everyone has a unique Thanksgiving dinner because each family is unique. As this year's Thanksgiving rolled around I got to thinking about what happens each year at dinner... So, without further a do, here are 17 things that most likely happened at your Thanksgiving dinner this year:
1. A male carved the turkey.
Waiting until I have my own home, and kids to show everyone my carving skills.
2. A whopping 2 people touched the cranberry sauce this year!
Admit that no one touches that stuff. It is never completely gone, no one asks for more, and it's more of a staple for Thanksgiving than something anyone actually wants.
3. Someone asked what "A ?" means and why you keep texting it to them.
I've been asked 3 times already.
4. The biscuits or bread were the first to go.
At least in my household. If you're even 2 minutes late to the table you've missed out on your biscuit.
5. You found out that some people actually like the dark meat.
I will never understand this one.
6. You also found out that some of your relatives "favorite part" is the skin??
I don't care how much flavor it has, it is weird to watch you skin the turkey.
7. If there is a dog, they've become obese by the end of the night.
You tell yourself it's just one piece of turkey, but so does everyone else at the table feeding the dog.
8. Someone's got "buns in the oven"!
If it isn't someone in your family, it's someone in someone you know's family!
9. Someone fell asleep.
Most likely your dad.
10. There were 152832 desserts and of those, 2 were eaten.
Everyone always brings some kind of pie, and the rest just get put in the fridge.
11. People are more excited for the leftovers than they are for the actual meal.
The amount of times you'll hear "ugh I can't wait for this tomorrow" is insane.
12. Your mom insisted that guests take more food home.
"Please! Take some! You'll want it tomorrow".
13. You ate too much.
You might join your dad in the nap and let yourself digest.
14. Dinner started between the hours of 1-5pm.
Don't eat breakfast or lunch because Thanksgiving dinner is an all day affair.
15. You gave thanks.
In the end, we celebrate Thanksgiving to give thanks and appreciate all that we are blessed with. So hopefully, even if none of the other stuff happened, you gave thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving 2017!
