I've learned A LOT.

1. No matter how hard you try, sometimes those cookies will be impossible to resist.

2. A good, long walk or run is good for clearing your head.

3. Especially if you have a dog at home that you're missing, take advantage of the dogs on campus and stop to pet them.

4. Start that paper EARLY.

5. Go to class, even if you don't have an attendance grade or requirement.

Just do it. Based on my experience, when you do attend, you sit there realizing how much material you would've missed if you hadn't been there.

6. Get that class you're dreading out of the way.

When I came to college, my major only required one semester of math, and I was thinking about waiting until my sophomore or junior year to fulfill it. Instead, I decided to just go for it, and I am finishing up the course now and so glad I got it out of the way my first semester.

7. Naps may seem fun now, but...

Unless you have nothing on your to-do list (which will probably never quite be the case), it's actually better to get your work done now and go to bed earlier.

8. Take advantage of everything FREE.

Free food, free movies, free activities... who wants to pay for stuff? Not a college student. You can have plenty of fun with your friends with free stuff on and off campus.

9. Get off campus if/when you can.

Visit a big city near you, attend a church where you can meet people other than college students, or go to the park. It's good to get away from college life for a while, especially if your campus is more isolated.

10. Wash your hands.

Sickness is everywhere.

11. Choose sleep and studies for the majority of the time...

Especially if you have an exam the next day or tons of homework. BUT if you only have a few math problems to do, going to that on-campus event with your friends is what you're going to remember and cherish in the long-run.

12. Music is a great source of entertainment.

Even if you don't have time to watch Netflix, listening to music is a great escape and if it works for you, it makes studying and homework more enjoyable.

13. Don't believe that one kid who told you that "college is easy."

College is definitely harder than high school, but also, you don't have to let it kill you. See it as a challenge.

14. Not everyone has to have a "friend group."

Sometimes, have a few friends from different classes or involvements works better. Less drama and it allows you to have more time yourself.

15. Go to ALL of the football games, even if your team isn't the best.

It might be a long day, but honestly, they have seriously been the highlights of my semester in a social aspect.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
