15 Signs This Semester Is Already Too Real

Is it just me or does it seem like spring semester has gotten far too real, far too fast? I’ve only been back at school for about two weeks, and I’m already overwhelmed by life in general. Here are some signs that indicate that you, too, are dealing with the harsh reality that is the beginning of a new semester:

1. You've overslept at least once.

2. You can't see the floor in your room, but you know it's there.

3. You've caught the campus plague.

4. You used your free Chipotle coupon too soon, and now you're broke and actually need it.

5. Since you're already broke, you've asked your parents for an advance on next month's grocery money.

6. Your planner is already full.

7. You've walked into the wrong classroom at some point within the last two weeks.

8. You've felt personally victimized by Kirkbride Jesus.

9. You're in denial about the amount of work you're already behind on.

10. Going off of #9, you haven't even bought your textbooks yet.

11. You actually haven't even entered the Little Bob since you've been back.

12. You question your choice of school location every time you walk in the cold to class.

13. You're aware that you would be nothing without dry shampoo and coffee.

14. You feel like you've been back at school for months, but it's actually been a couple of weeks.

15. You've said the words, "This semester is already too real."

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
