Happy second week of November! I cannot believe we're already 10 weeks into the school year. Before you know it, Thanksgiving Break, final exams, the end of the semester, and Winter Break will be here. There are times in which we wish break was here already because it's the only time we can catch up on entertainment and naps.
So, here are 14 signs you're ready for Thanksgiving Break:
1. You know it's been not one, but more than a month or longer since your last break
Although you have created a family of your own in college, you still miss your family, friends, and other loved ones from home.
2. You miss your family
You miss the shenanigans, occasional storytime, and family entertainments. Well, that's what Thanksgiving break is for (every break I mean).
3. You miss your friends at home
You miss being able to see your friends from home most of the time. Facetime, Skype, and texting aren't the same as seeing them in person.
4. You miss your pet (if you have one)
Here's a picture of my dog for your entertainment. Pet lovers, you miss being tackled by your pet, petting him or her, and you also miss being responsible because you love your pet so much you want to be around them more.
5. Every time you call your grandparents, you whine when your grandma tells you what she's cooking for dinner
You are getting sick of cafeteria food since it's not the same as your mom or your grandma's. You can't hang up without asking what they're cooking for dinner and you end up crying on the inside because home-cooked meals are way better than bland dining hall food.
6. Sharing a bathroom is getting on your nerves
Suite style bathrooms are better than communal bathrooms, however, you still have to share with a few more people and wait your turn. It gets tiring after a while because you hate waiting half an hour for your suitemate or roommate to get out of the shower and you just want to get your toothbrush.
7. Especially showering in a small shower
Shaving legs is harder than writing a 7-page paper in such a small shower.
8. You're counting down to break
You just want to get your work done, so you don't have to waste your break doing it and limiting time with your loved ones.
9. You find yourself scrolling through Pinterest for Thanksgiving recipes
What's better than brown sugar sweet potatoes with pecans and craisins, stuffing, and turkey?
10. You find yourself saving Black Friday deals
A number of advertisements and emails of Black Friday don't help when you're trying so hard to resist online shopping or even jump on the bus to go to the mall.
11. You're excited to sleep in your own bed
A bed in your dorm is not the same as your bed in your own room.
12. You're wondering if a cure for procrastination exists
There's a huge struggle between desperately wanting to get your work done and wanting to avoid working altogether.
13. You also see break as an opportunity to catch up on Netflix
A break is meant for not doing extra work. Five days of Thanksgiving means seeing your family and friends, eating lots of home-cooked meals, and watching Netflix with zero regrets.
14. You're ready to watch the Macy's Parade
How can you not be excited about not having to deal with getting trampled by people when you can simply relax on your couch, watch the parade on TV, and know what's really going.
15. You find yourself packing "Thanksgiving pants" instead of jeans
Diet is not even in the Thanksgiving terminology.
