15 Reasons Why Halloween Will Always Be The Best Holiday

15 Reasons Why Halloween Will Always Be The Best Holiday

Halloween is clearly the best holiday of the year. Here's why.

1. You Get to See Cute Little Trick-Or-Treaters

There's nothing better than seeing the neighborhood kids even cuter all dressed up in costume.

2. It's another excuse to eat sweet treats

I mean, it's kind of a need for the trick or treaters right?

3. CANDY CORN

It's a seasonal thing, folks.

4. Carving Pumpkins Is Legit LIT

Tell me your family doesn't compete to see who can carve the best pumpkin, I mean, what other holiday lets you dig up gooey crap and turn it into a masterpiece and then light it up?

5. You Can Dress However You Want and it is Completely Acceptable

Want to be what you dreamed of growing up? Like an astronaut? A doctor? Or ya wanna not wear pants? Either works, really.

6. ABC Family Hosts an Iconic, 25 Nights of Pure Gold Halloween Movies, That Only Play Once a Year

"Hocus Pocus," "The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Halloweentown" — need I say more?

7. Haunted Houses Will Always Be Fun

I don't care if you're two or twenty-two, haunted houses will always be fun and you're lying if you think they're lame or not scary.

8. Jokes and Tricks Are Socially Acceptable

The bowls of candy with the fake hand that grabs you when you reach for candy, the scary masks, and of course fake spiders being thrown around are always fun.

9. Halloween Music is a Blast From the Past

"He did the monster mash... THRILLER...The Adams family." We all know the lyrics and like to sing along let's be honest.

10. Left over Candy From Trick-Or-Treaters

If the bowl isn't empty, then neither is Halloween or the fun.

11. The Parties Are Better Than Any Other Holiday Parties

Halloween might be the only holiday that you don't have to worry about getting all fancy for family pictures and mentally prepare for the family to ask about your life updates. Halloween parties are filled with costumes, tricks, and lots of treats.

12. The Decorations

Throw some spooky spider webs here, throw some spooky spider webs there, a jack-o-lantern there, some skeletons there and we got ourself a decked out place.

13. Gotta Be Basic For This One...But PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES

October might as well be its own holiday because what did we do to deserve pumpkin spice lattes?

14. It's Another Day to Allow You and Your Bestie to Slay!

Couples/group costumes have a special place in everyone's heart. Walk in the room with a cool costume and a matching sidekick and everyone will be jealous.

15. No Matter How Old You Are, Halloween Will Make You Feel Like a Kid Again

Can it Just Be Halloween Everyday?

Poetry on the Odyssey: I Can't be Sick

It's that time of year again where we all get sick, when we don't want to be

I can't be sick,

not today at least,

Achoo!

I can't be sick,

I say as my throat burns me as I try to speak,

Achoo!

My eyes are bloodshot red,

and I keep coughing.

Why am I sick?

I say, as I look for my tissues

Maybe it's because of the cold?

Maybe my friends got my sick?

I want to rip my nose off because of how many times I sneezed

I CAN'T be sick,

I have an essay to write,

a presentation due,

and my friend asked me to go see a movie this weekend,

ACHOO!

In a week, I'll be fine

I say, as I take my medicine,

Just have to drink this minty lemon flavored tea,

that burns my throat and tongue,

but in a week I'll be okay,

I just wish I wasn't sick right now.

Winter Weather Blues: What is it I am searching for?

I hope you are somewhere warm and fuzzy, because it is friggin' cold this winter!

It's 5 degrees outside. Cold! On the inside I am cranky, but from my appearance you may see a genuinly happy guy. Somebody who is eager to chat for a moment or two. This is true, yet often I hold it together just long enough in these moments before I want distance and space. I sit. I ponder. I think.

What I want to say is not here. Sometimes its the words. Sometimes its the emotion. Surrounding all of us is a lot of frustration and confusion, thus stress and fatigue. I am not impervious to it all. No matter the strength and capability I acquire, we are still always at balance with the people around us. Whether you engage with them or not.

It would be selfish if I said this is something that I am seperate or immune from. The only difference there seems to be between us all is how we choose to respond to any circumstance of emotions. I deeply desire for a lot of us to be genuinely happy. Not through satisfactory means, but rather through fulfillment and trust in on another.

I know that one of the flaws is to expect too much out of others. It is a flaw because I am expecting too much out of myself, and not wholly caring towards the expectations of others. A lie floats around supporting this. They aren't relatable to you. What they want is completely different.

What in the heck is this! Is it the weather? Do I need to exercise? Do yoga? Eat? Meditate? Do I need to get laid? The latter sounds very nice, but even this is only satisfactory and temporary to a point.

It is connection that I crave. I didn't know that I would grow to want authentic conversations with fellow human beings, so I didn't apply much time working towards it. Now, it only seems like an awkward junior high dance. Interactive interaction does not suffice either. It is raw, live experiences with humans that are flooded with laughter. This is what I dream of the most. It matters not where or from who this livliness happens. I just want it to be real... true.

Go ahead! Curse at the weather! Curse at the wind! When the correct temperance is among us, the world will be filled with our purest Joy again.
