Prepare your pen and paper, ladies. It’s time to make a resolution for the upcoming school year. Because, let’s be honest, you probably forgot about your real New Year’s resolution about seven months ago—a month after you initially made it. On the other hand, if you’re still keeping up with your goal, congrats! You’re a rare breed for sure. Regardless, here’s 15 things you can do to make sure you come out on top at the end of this school year.
- Exercise more! Everyone’s favorite and most cliché New Year goal. Make an effort to fit the gym into your schedule. Who knows, maybe you’ll find new eye candy – regardless you’ll look and feel better than before.
- Stop drunk eating. Next morning-you hates drunk-you for eating that entire pizza. Holy grease ball, your face is definitely breaking out for the next week after that one. The only time drunk eating is acceptable is if it was free. If it was free, I’m not judgin’.
- Learn not to be a bit*h. Instead of making a huge personality change, why don’t you just change the bad parts? It’s pretty easy to be nice, you just have to stop being so mean.
- Quit the job you hate. We can’t always have a job we love, but stop doing something you despise. Rid yourself of all the negativity and find a new job you actually enjoy going to.
- Stop procrastinating. Gotta throw this one in there. Stop procrastinating on your work! Get it done so you have more time to focus on all the other trouble you’d rather get into.
- Get involved. One of my biggest regrets was not getting involved in other organizations outside of my sorority, sooner. Find something you enjoy and make a commitment to it. You’ll meet so many people and have so many more opportunities.
- Let him go. If he’s the type of guy who only wants you around on his time, let him go from the beginning. You don’t want to look back and realize you wasted ¼ of the best 4, or 5, years of your life.
- Let him in. To the guy who has been chasing after you for the past year, let him in. It’s a new year and it’s time for something new, so why not see what happens?
- Get to know your professors. These people will make great connections for you at the end of senior year and even after graduation if you make a lasting impression. They know what’s out there, so get in good with your teachers so they’ll be more likely to help you network.
- Learn to be alone. After college so much of your time will be spent alone. Gain some independence before you get tossed into the real world by doing something you’d never do alone. Like go to lunch alone and reflect on your day. Unless it’s at Chipotle... You always run into somebody at Chipotle.
- Save money. It’s a Tuesday and you’re trying to decide if you should go out. Sure it’s dollar night at Halfway, but stay in. You’ll enjoy the extra hours you get to relax and you can save that money for other things… Like Thursday or better alcohol.
- Drink better alcohol. Your body will love you so much more if you cut out that Burnetts and below the bottom shelf tequila.
- Cook more, take-out less. Yeah, the delivery guy is cute and you’re waiting for the day he gets your number off the receipt, but chances are this won’t happen, or if it does… it won't last (he’s just a delivery driver). Plus, cooking is fun. At the least, learn to make three different meals this year.
- Use your phone less. Make a conscious effort to put your phone away more. It’ll make a huge difference during studying and your parents will quit complaining about your data overages.
- Start appreciating your life, it's flying by. College is supposed to be one of the best parts of your life so slow down and enjoy every day of it. Do what you love with the people you love. Your days in this college town are numbered.
