15 Lessons Learned By 21

I have not been a citizen of planet Earth for too long. I have a significant amount of lessons that still need to be learned. I'm still an idiot. What 20-something girl isn't? I'll own up to it. I take selfies and spend way too much money on clothes. That's pretty dumb, but it's fine. However, I have learned a few things on my trips around the sun.

1. Drink water.

Seriously. Drink copious amounts of water. It cures a multitude of issues that you are probably having in your life due to dehydration. I'm a doctor. No, I'm not. But still, drink a lot of water...then drink some more after that.

2. Not every battle is worth fighting.

People will make you mad. It happens. Be mad for five minutes then get over it. Your words can get you into deep doo-doo.

3. Do your laundry more than once a month.

Laundry day does not need to last three days.

4. Don't let someone's negativity be contagious.

People have bad days. Be there for those people. However, you don't need to shoulder that negativity and let it affect your own well-being.

5. Learn to cook.

It saves you money, and it is generally healthier than eating out all of the time.

6. Seize once in a lifetime opportunities.

These opportunities are often the scariest choices to make. Make them. #YOLO #SRRYNOTSRRY

7. Sometimes friendships need to end.

You don't need to keep everyone around. Some serve their purpose, and then you can send them on their merry way. There is no reason that all of these friendships need to end in a major fight. Sometimes, they just end.

8. Say, "Hello" to every dog that you meet.

Dogs are cool.

9. Laugh, Laugh, Laugh

The answer to everything is laughter. You can get through any difficult situation by realizing just how hilariously ridiculous this life is.

10. Be nice to everyone.

We are in this thing together. So even when someone is a jerkface, tell them that they have nice shoes...only if their shoes are actually nice, though.

11. Know that you are FABULOUS.

Hey kid, don't knock yourself down. Other people will do that for you. Own it. Werk it. Yas.

12. Stop caring what people are saying and thinking about you.

It is none of your business.

13. Let people know that you appreciate them.

You know some incredible people. Let those people know that they are incredible.

14. Don't waste your time on hate and anger.

Love and kindness feels a lot better.

15. Don't wear pants every chance that you get.

Pants are dumb.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
