15 Forgotten Shows Of Our Childhoods
redballoonblog.blogspot.com

Sometimes we forget about the things that we watched or did when we were really little. Before there was dish network in my house, there was the public broadcasting station. Now that i'm older and I see the TV shows that children watch, I realize how good cartoons were when I was younger. Now, some may not hold my attention as well, but I believe that the cartoons I watched when I was younger were the best cartoons you could possibly feed a young persons mind. However, some of them have been forgotten. So, for a second, let's remember the TV shows that we loved so dearly.

1. Dragon Tales

I'm not afraid to admit that I am 18 years old and still watch this show. Every time I watch it it takes me back to being five and drinking coffee milk in a big t-shirt provided to me by my grandmother.

2. Read Between The Lions

Now that I'm older I realize that this show was extremely creepy. Lions don't read. The characters also moved really weirdly. I also praise the mothers and fathers that endured the annoying intro song.

3. Zoboomafoo

This wasn't my favorite show growing up. It generally came on at a time of the day in which the TV didn't hold my attention that much. Sadly, the world lost the real lemur often clipped in the TV show. Jovian died at the age of 20 of kidney failure.

4. Molly and the Big Comfy Couch

This show is the reason that I tried to clean in 10 seconds at daycare as a child. The clean up song stresses me out to this day. Aside from that, how did she get her leg up far enough to hit the 12 when she did her clock stretches? And, how did so much stuff fit in those couch cushions?

5. Caillou

I praise all the parents that dealt with this show. Caillou is without a doubt the most annoying spoiled little boy I have ever seen. All he did was cry when he didn't get his way. In addition, i'm surprised the cat puppet didn't give me nightmares.

6. Maggie and the Ferocious Beast

When I was in kindergarden we would always watch Dora at snacktime after our nap. On occasions, we would get to watch Maggie and the Ferrocious Beast before Dora, and those days were always the best days.

7. Little Bill

I don't remember much about this show except that I used to get really excited when I got to watch it. It was not a PBS cartoon, so It wasn't something I had access to often.

8. Oswald the Octopus

Now that I'm older, I question the fact that as a child, it never struck me as odd that Oswald was an octopus, that walked his pet dog. Who was also in a bun for some odd reason, on land? There are so many things wrong with this.

9. Clifford the Big Red Dog

When I was young, mom would always woke us up for school early enough to watch about 20 minutes of cartoons before school. Clifford always came on at 6:00 am and we watched it every morning.

10. Barney

Perhaps now the song is a little horrifying, but I will always be amazed at the fact that those cuddly dinosaurs were capable of teleportation.

11. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

I will always be thankful for Mr. Rogers for teaching me that I wouldn't get sucked into the bathtub drain.

12. Teletubbies

The sun baby and the vacuum cleaner always made me really happy. I'm still a little confused why they live in a spaceship under a hill, but it's cool.

13. Jay Jay the Jet Plane

Networks definitely did not play this show enough. Just about everyone loved this show. Although, planes with faces are a bit peculiar.

14. Bear in the Big Blue House

For the longest time I didn't know what the name of this show was. I just knew that at the end of every show, the big bear would go stand on his balcony and look at the big huge moon, and that was my favorite part of the whole show.

15. Rocket Power

This show kind of made me want to braid my hair and ride skateboards.

I give thanks to the parents that dealt with these annoying TV shows long enough for our tiny brains to grow out of them. The shows I watched as a child are forever embedded into my memory. Once a PBS kid, always a PBS kid.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
