One thing that we can all improve upon is reducing our carbon footprint. The amount of waste that is created on a college campus is terrifying. In a constantly on-the-go setting full of frantic people moving from place to place, it can be easy to value convenience over the eco-friendly option. However, the truth is, eco-friendly lifestyles do not have to be inconvenient if you properly prepare for them. Once you make the switch, it is quite simple to maintain.

If you live in a college dorm, here are 14 environmentally friendly living tips:

1. Replace your dryer sheets with wool dryer balls

2. Always bring a reusable water bottle with you so you never have to purchase a single-use plastic bottle

3. Bring your own coffee cup to Starbucks or Dunkin

4. Speaking of coffee, fill a reusable K-Cup with coffee grounds rather than purchasing plastic, pre-filled K-cups

5. Ask for no utensils or straws when picking up take-out

6. Sort what can be recycled from your trash and then actually recycle it

7. Don't throw your trash into the recycling bins because then it contaminates the recycling and the whole receptacle is deemed trash

8. Unplug electronics when you are not in your dorm

9. Turn the lights off and open the blinds instead

10. Have a couple of real dishes and utensils instead of going through packs of paper or plastic products

11. Improve the air quality with some plants

12. Say no to plastic bags

13. Conserve water by limiting the time and length of your showers

14. Choose an energy-efficient refrigerator for your room

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
