I am a firm believer that one does not need a significant other in order to feel happy. However, if you are in a relationship, there are some perks to it if you are in college.
1. A Constant Cheerleader
Got an A on a test? They're there cheering you on. Put your adult pants on to ask the professor a question during class? They're congratulating you on your bravery. You wore something to class that isn't sweatpants and the shirt you slept in last night? They're treating you to cookies on your motivation.
2. Study Buddy
It's really annoying when you make flashcards but have no one to help quiz you. That's where a boyfriend or girlfriend comes in! They can help quiz you as you slowly lose your sanity over your 50 question exam worth 20% of your grade.
3. Forever Motivator
It's sometimes hard to find motivation to write a paper or do homework or study. Having someone to constantly remind you what you need to do and why you shouldn't drop of college just because it's difficult is a huge help/ GPA booster.
4. Midterm/Finals Week Chef
In the middle of studying constantly, it's normal to forget about cooking. That's one of the many reasons so many college students just eat ramen: it's quick and easy. Having someone who is willing to make you food during stressful exam weeks is a huge help. Eating well can help with focusing and studying, so be sure to thank you significant other if they made you food during a stressful week!
5. Soothing Music DJ
Listening to soothing music can actually boost how much you remember while studying. Having a significant other to play some good study tunes can help boost your GPA.
6. Your Favorite Uber Driver
Studying on your way to a test can help with the normal anxiety of a test. However, it can be very dangerous to try and study while driving. If you have a supportive boyfriend or girlfriend that drives you to exam so you can study is a real keeper.
7. Meme Lord
Whenever you actually find the time to go on social media, your significant other better be tagging you in memes so you have something to laugh at when you do. Nothing is better than opening Facebook just to see something hilarious.
8. Your Private Counselor
Had a rough day at class? Did someone treat you wrong? Venting to your significant other is a great way to relieve stress and go back to focusing on school work.
9. Lunch Date
Having someone to eat lunch with can be a fun past time and makes lunch time more enjoyable. Who would be better to eat lunch with than your significant other? They think the world of you, why wouldn't you want to?
10. Online Test Helper
If you still tell people you don't use notes or your textbook or other online resources to help with online exams, you need to stop lying. It's normal and most professors know it, which is why they're significantly more difficult than normal exams. Having someone there to help you get through that timed exam faster can not only help with the stress but also with your grade on it.
11. Taco Bell Bringer
Have you ever been in the middle of homework or at home note taking when your burrito hunger begins to strike? Having a boyfriend or girlfriend who is willing to bring you your mild sauce covered life blood can help with GPA's in a weird indirect way.
12. Online Lecture Listener
Have you ever had to listen to an online recorded lecture for an online/ hybrid course? Having someone to listen along with your can help boost your understanding of the lecture and start conversations about what you're currently learning.
13. Break Time Game Buddy
Taking frequent breaks after studying can actually help boost your motivation and what you remember. Playing video games with your significant other on these breaks can be a super fun bonding moment.
