Going on vacation or going back to school is always super exciting. There are tons of adventures just waiting to happen once you get there, but before you leave you have to pack. And packing is the worst part of the entire trip hands down. It is something to be dreaded and avoided at all costs until it is absolutely necessary which leads to lots of problems.
1. Waiting until the absolute last moment to pack
No matter how many times I regret waiting until the last minute to pack I always do it again and again. Packing is so annoying and makes me angry every time so I can't help waiting until the last moment.
2. Your favorite shirt is in the washer.
I always try not to wear whatever I want to bring with me on vacation. However, every time there is at least one piece of clothing that is dirty or in the washing machine meaning I have to leave it behind.
3. Deciding what clothes to bring
There are two types of packers. One who meticulously picks out specific outfits for each day. The other randomly throws clothes in their bag and hopes they will match. No matter what group you fall into you will still have the struggle of deciding what clothes you should pack.
4. Feeling like you are missing something
I always have this sixth sense that I'm missing something, but I never can figure out what it is.
5. But over-packing anyways
Of course I will need 13 shirts and 4 sweatshirts even though I will only be there for 5 days. You never know!
6. Getting there and realizing what you were missing
I swear the moment I open my bag I realize that I forgot my socks or toothpaste.
7. Having to track down your parents to find out what special things you need to pack
Every time I run down my parents and ask what I need. And they always say "I don't know socks, pants, t-shirts." Of course they neglect to tell me I need a nice pair of clothes or my winter coat.
8. Your toothbrush being wet
This one really grinds my gears. I hate putting my wet toothbrush in my bag because it gets everything else wet. This same logic goes for hair straightener or curlers when they are hot.
9. Packing for the most unlikely scenarios
Without fail I always go through every single scenario while packing. I'm over here packing a poncho that I would never be caught dead in, my jeans when it is going to be 90 every day, or a swimsuit in winter because "you never know."
10. Getting distracted by your phone and wasting precious time
My phone is just so much more interesting than folding clothes and putting them in a bag.
11. Playing tetras while putting all the bags in the car
My family always drives everywhere when we go on vacation so we have to be able to fit all our luggage in the trunk. Of course this ends up spilling into the compartments under the seats and in the areas surrounding the chairs, so you can't see the floor.
12. Being exhausted by the time you finish
Packing is stressful. From trying to fit everything in your bag to figuring out what clothes to bring to the nagging feeling that you are missing something. All of this stress makes me super tired by the time I finish.
13. Trying to fit everything in your bag on the way back
I don't know why but every time I come home my bag is 10 times more full than it was on the way there even when I don't buy anything while I'm there. It might have to do with the fact that I refuse to fold my clothes a second time...
