Here are 13 things you know to be true if you live the dorm life:

1. Silence is impossible.

Yeah you have a huge test coming up that you need to pass, but oh well! Your roommates probably are screaming about a boy, and your neighbors are dropping weights 24/7. Those boys that live above you? They like to fall out of their bed at 4 am, so good luck finding peace and quiet in your own room!

2. You are unable to be independent.

How dare your roommate eat dinner without you? Wait, we’re still going to go shower at the same time right?

3. Naps consume your life.

Only an hour until my next class? Sounds like a solid nap to me!

4. Your roommates know your entire family.

Is that your mom Face-timing you? Hang on I'm coming!!

5. Everything is 10 miles away.

Okay, maybe I'm just lazy. Walking 10 minutes to the library is a no go for me...

6. When you hear commuters complaining...

Tell me how terrible home cooked meals and in state tuition is, please, I'm dying to know!

7. When you have to walk to shower...

Winter seems twice as cold when you have to walk through the hall in only a towel.

8. Peepholes are life-savers.

Oh no! It's that creepy kid from COM class...AGAIN!! Quick, everyone pretend they're asleep, and do not open that door!

9. Having guy friends is essential.

I'm sorry, do you think I'm getting rid of that spider?

10. Nothing is yours anymore.

Two roommates means three wardrobes, so hey I'm not complaining about this one. More clothes, more food, more happiness.

11. Microwaveable food will save you.

If Ramen and Mac n Cheese aren't your two most eaten foods than what are you doing with your life?

12. Laundry is no longer a necessity.

I'm going home in 10 days, I can definitely make these three outfits last me...

13. You now have two places to call home.

Having two homes may be the weirdest feeling. You refer to your dorm as home, you refer to your home as home and sometimes when you just wanna go home you don't even know which home you're talking about.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
