Dogs are so much more than just a pet. They truly are our best friends in the world. Here are all of the ways that our dogs make our days just a little brighter.
1. By picking us up when we're down
Several times I have been crying when all of a sudden, my dog comes out of nowhere and licks all of my tears away. How do they know to do this? Must be magic.
And not only do they know when we need kisses to cheer us up, they know when we need hugs, too. This dog waits on a street corner in New York City with it's owner. The dog then will hug any people who need a pick-me-up. I think it's time I take a trip to New York.
2. Making us laugh constantly
When they're playing with their toys, trying to eat bugs, doing doughnuts in the living room, barking at something on the TV... there are just so many opportunities for them to make us laugh.
This dog learns from it's human siblings how to jump on a bed. Dogs doing human things always calls for a good chuckle.
3. Bringing people together
I cannot tell you how many times a stranger and I have connected through dogs. I've had conversations with people who are walking their dog, and conversations with strangers while I was walking my dog.
Not only have I conversed with strangers about dogs, but several of my friends and I are constantly sending pictures and videos back and forth when we find funny or adorable dogs.
4. When they help other animals
It's pretty weird how incredibly helpful dogs can be sometimes, even to other animals. Plenty of dogs would choose to hunt a smaller animal if given the opportunity. However, some are extremely helpful to smaller animals and actually help them. Personally, this makes me smile when I see dogs helping others because it just shows how smart, compassionate, and brave they can be.
5. By pigging out
Because when we've had a bad day and all we want is a chocolate bar and a pint of ice cream, we don't feel so bad if they pig out with us.
6. Helping us stay motivated while working out
They could motivate us by giving us kisses every time we complete a push up, trotting alongside us while we run, or just going for a walk with us.
7. Or giving us an excuse not to work out
When they keep untying your gym shoes it's a sign for us to stop, right?
8. Cuddling sessions
What's better than falling asleep with your dog who doubles as a blanket? Nothing.
9. They're just so cute.
Every time I look at a dog, my first thought is wow that dog is adorable. And adding filters like this galaxy one only makes this dog even more adorable. How do they do it? And can they teach me?
10. By trying to be human
Some dogs sit like humans with their legs and paws resting on the arm of the chair. Others sit in the driver's seat and pretend to drive the car. Several turn on the TV with their paws... But a majority of dogs try to eat human food. This dog looks adorable while trying to sneak a bite.
11. They don't care if you're weird
If you can't dance, they don't care. If you have an unhealthy obsession with a celebrity, they don't care. If you talk to them in a baby voice, they probably don't care. They love you unconditionally.
12. When they get excited to see you
It's a great feeling to know that your best friend missed you just as much as you missed them. This small dog looks adorable as it shows it's excitement when the owner is just outside the room.
13. By being the best companion
Dogs are known as man's best friend for many reasons: They're always there for us, loving us unconditionally, making us laugh, smile, and protecting us. Paws and thank your dogs for brightening your days.
