Everyone anticipates the exciting transition into college, enjoying the new kind of freedom and different kind of fun, but there are still moments when you want to stay inside and cry your eyes out because you left your best friends back home. Here is a brief collection of things you miss doing with them when you leave for college.
1. Late-night ice cream runs.
They were the best companions and were always down to make a quick trip to Twisty Treat because you felt like ignoring your life's problems for a minute or two (or thirty).
2. Binge-watching Netflix together.
The unspoken love for common TV shows and characters made your siblings the perfect partners for watching Netflix for hours on end.
3. Being a personal chauffeur.
You may have complained about it from time-to-time, but surprisingly, you miss being the second mom and taking your siblings everywhere. Being their personal chauffeur made time for catching up on their friends' irrelevant drama and the new cute boys.
4. Having your clothes, jewelry and/or make-up stolen.
OK, you may not actually miss this, but it was satisfying to know that you had style and did not always look like a hobo when they tried to take your stuff.
5. Screaming your heads off (at each other).
Just think: without them, now your current life-stresses are repressed for extended periods of time. (Unless you have a significant other to regularly take it out on.)
6. Birthday celebrations.
It is definitely weird missing their birthdays. Having to FaceTime them instead of jumping on them at six in the morning is an unsatisfying alternative.
7. Running to show them hilarious Twitter and Tumblr posts.
It is true that you can send these posts to them right away, but it is a different experience to see their facial expressions in the moment.
8. Crazy family dinners.
No one understands the chaos better than your siblings. Hearing about the funny moments are definitely the "you-had-to-be-there" kinds.
9. Laughing at your parents.
With today's technology and lingo, watching your parents attempting to get with the program is just a sight to see and something to roll on the floor about with your siblings.
10. Supporting what they love.
Waking up at 6 in the morning for an all-day cheer competition or softball tournament is a little tough, but spending those days with your sisters or those nights watching three-hour school theater productions are actually the best.
11. Taking ugly Snapchat videos of them.
It is weird not having half of your recent videos being your sisters' double chins, bad angles and them screaming, "STOP."
12. Eating their food just to make them mad.
There is no one to chase you around anymore demanding the reason you ate the last half of their fettuccine. (Because they will never have the chance to eat that meal.)
13. Cuddling when you just need them next to you
Your roommate, new friends, and sorority sisters make great alternatives, but nothing compares to snuggling up to your better halves.
