People automatically assume that being an only child must be the greatest thing in the world. You get both your parents' undivided attention, you never have to share a room and you get everything you ever wanted.
But, did anyone ever tell you that being an only child really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and we still struggle just like people with siblings?
1. If there’s no more room at the main table during holiday meals, you have to sit at the “kids table.” All. Alone.
2. Once people find out you are an only child they make the automatic assumption that you have been spoiled all your life. Update: even if I was, it was not my fault!
3. Or they are so surprised and act like you lived in a different universe, asking all of these questions about what your life was like.
4. They also decide to ask why you are an only child. Does there always HAVE to be a reason?
5. Always having to come up with new imaginary friends to make up for the siblings you lack.
6. Getting ALL of your parents' attention.
7. Celebrating yourself on "National Siblings Day" because you're the only one you need.
8. Never knowing how to act around your friend's siblings.
9. And then having your friends get upset with you if you act the wrong way.
10. You have way too low of a tolerance for teasing.
11. Having nobody to blame for breaking that glass bowl.
12. Sometimes struggling when you have to constantly be around people because you are so used to being alone.
13. But at the end of the day, you knew for sure you were your parents favorite.
