This summer I took a lot of time thinking about my anxiety and how to better my mental health. Finding ways to cope with anxiety and do things for me has not been easy, but it is so important to do. Remember, your mental health is just as important as your physical health and you need to make time to better yourself mentally too. With the summer ending soon and getting back to school and all our responsibilities, I thought I'd compile a list of things to do to help ease anxiety. Believe me, I know it isn't easy. But, instead of giving in and letting your anxiety take over, get out of bed and face your fears. You are strong and you can overcome your anxiety.

1. Go for a walk.

Do something physical. Go on a walk, run, bike ride or basically anything. It will help you clear your mind and put your mind on the physical activity rather than whatever it is that is giving you anxiety.

2. Read.

Grab a book and just read. My favorite things to read are poetry, like 'Milk and Honey,' or a book by one of my favorite people, like Mindy Kaling. Just relax and enjoy a good story.

3. Take a social media break.

Whenever I'm feeling a lot of anxiety and feel very down, I put down my phone. Stop refreshing Twitter and Instagram and take a break. Not seeing all the posts of what may feel like "perfect" people will really help you feel better.

4. Journal.

I honestly used to think journaling was stupid, even though writing is basically my life. But, recently this summer i started writing in a journal every night before I get into bed and it really helps. Writing my feelings from the day, what happened that day and making lists of things I love helps so much.

5. Take a hot shower or bath.

Take a hot bath, or a shower, and just completely relax.

6. Listen to music.

Listening to your favorite music really helps ease everything. Put your headphones in and just try to calm down.

7. Watch your favorite comedy tv show or movie.

Watch something that will make you laugh over and over until you forget everything. For me, it's 'Parks and Rec,' or 'The Office.' I can watch them anytime and laugh so hard each time.

8. Remind yourself it will be okay.

Okay, this is really hard to do. But, fill yourself with the good thoughts. Focus on the good. Keep reminding yourself everything will be okay and eventually you will realize it is true.

9. Drink water and eat healthy.

I know this kind of sounds dumb, but this summer I've learned drinking water and eating healthier really helps you feel good. I used to eat so bad and drink so much Diet Coke (my ultimate weakness), but I finally cut out pop and drinking water has made me feel so good. Eat healthy and feel healthy. It really does help.

10. Don't let yourself sleep in all day.

Once your force yourself to get out of bed you will feel so good. Don't give in to your anxiety and get out of bed.

11. Get a change of scenery.

Go somewhere new and get a change of a view for once. It will give you a nice break.

12. Color or do a craft.

Okay, this one honestly does not work for me. But, adult coloring books help a lot of people and are worth a try.

13. Take a deep breath.

Remember to breathe. It will be okay. You are strong.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
