College, where you end up meeting endless friends and a handful of life-long ones, but nothing beats seeing your best friend from home. They've seen you from your most awkward stage into who you are today. While having along distance best friend can be tough at times, it is so incredibly worth it. Here are 14 things you'll understand if you have a long distance best friend.

1. You know exactly how long it’s been since you last saw your best friend and it feels like forever.

Because you practically start counting down the moment you leave each other.

2. Seeing each other is a BIG deal.

You do one of those running, jumping in each other's arms, hugs and the laughing instantly starts.

3. When you do finally see each other, it feels like absolutely no time has passed.

You pick back up right where you left off, no matter if it's been one day, or one year.

4. You're super comfortable around their family and in their house.

You can walk in without knocking (even though you choose to). Their family is your family.

5. Since you aren't there in person, you tend to like their posts and Instagram pictures just to remind them that you're there.

Liking a recent post turns into stalking them and making sure you haven't missed one in awhile. If you have, you start blowing up their phone with notifications.

6. You don't have to be intoxicated to have deep, meaningful chats.

They just get you and know you like the back of their hand and conversation always comes easy.

7. You have to celebrate birthdays from afar.

And it breaks your heart each time you can't be there to celebrate with them.

8. But.. you make up for it with a ridiculously long, detailed message about how important they are to you

I'm not talking the typical paragraph long, it's like "I have to scroll 7 times to even reach the middle of it" long. The message that can bring instant tears to your eyes.

9. You can't wait to finally live in the (hopefully) same area again.

You talk about how great it's going to be to finally live closer than 3 hours apart.

10. You send each other random selfies when you look rather cute because you know they'll appreciate it.

You most likely snap chat all the time, but they're the first person you send that bomb selfie to.

11. The funniest things between the two of you couldn't possibly be understood by anyone else.

I would post some of mine and my best friends inside jokes here, but none of you would understand them. They've carried over through the years and even more have been added to the long list of "one liners that can make us laugh so hard we cry."

12. There are moments where you wish that just once, you could snap your fingers and your best friend would magically appear.

Whether it was that one night at 1 am and the first thing I did was pick up the phone to text/call them, or when I'm walking down the sidewalk and something reminds me of something to do with them, there are always "those things" that make me need my best friend right then.

13. You pride yourselves on the fact that even though you don't see each other often, you're still as close as you'll ever be.

As sad as it might sound to most, it is one of the best accomplishments. Not many friendships last throughout high school, let alone college and being miles and miles apart.

14. You would never change the relationship you two have for anything.

It has only made our friendship stronger. While it may seem like we've drifted apart, the moment we see each other we're both reminded why nothing will ever change.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
