We're growing up and starting to appreciate many things we didn't realize were totally awesome as kids. Now when we get the chance to nap we get excited, this is something we'd never do as a child.

Here are 13 things we appreciate more as adults about the fall season we didn't as kids.

1. The leaves changing

When you're 5, you don't give two potatoes about what color the leaves are, just when mom or dad piled them all up so you can jump into them.

2. The weather changing

After a 90 degree August I'm ready for it to finally be "chilly."

3. Socks

Remember when we were kids and got socks as a Christmas present and we HATED it? Well now we're all broke and can't afford socks so when we get them as gifts we can barely hold in the tears of pure happiness.

4. We love to decorate.

I don't know about you but I always dreaded helping my mom or grandma decorate for all the different holidays, but now that I get to decorate my own house It's AWESOME.

5. Soup

another thing I hated as a kid. But now love as an adult. Plus is there anything that really compares to a broccoli and cheddar bread bowl from Panera?

6. Carving pumpkins

Although I'll still never get over cleaning out the guts of my pumpkin one thing I somehow, oddly enough, acquired over the years was patience. I now have the patience to carve something totally awesome into a pumpkin.

7. "Adult" parties

Now, let's be real, who doesn't like some spooky spiked Halloween juice or spiked hot cocoa. obviously, this is one thing we couldn't understand how fun this was as kids.

8. Zipping up our coats

Why was this such a hard concept to grasp as kids? I will zip up my coat in the middle of a slight breeze in September if it means not having to pay for a doctors visit.

9. Napping

The single most important thing we have ever taken for granted as kids. Adulating sucks and it's exhausting.

10. Coffee

"Gross!" "Yuck!" "It's not even sweet!" are all things we said as kids about coffee. Now it's one of the only things that keep us alive and thriving as adults. Well, kids, I like my coffee to match my attitude BITTER.

11. Baths/hot showers

"I went swimming today doesn't that count as a bath, mom?" You're lying if you never said this to your mother at least once in your life. Now you can't wait 'til the day is over and you can go home and jump into a bubble bath with a glass of wine and some Beatles playing in the background.

12. Candles

have you ever met a kid who mentioned how good a pumpkin spice candle smelled? NO.

13. Baking

When you were little you didn't care about helping your parents or grandparents make food as long as it was something you liked. Now we live for all the crockpot recipes we find on Pinterest or failing at trying to replicate something from a tasty video that we found on Facebook.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
