13 Stages of Running A Half Marathon

1. Mile 1

This is a breeze. I can’t believe I actually spent time training for this.

2. Mile 2

Nothing can stop me. I’m invincible. Why don’t more people run these?

3. Mile 3

5k is finished. That’s like 1/4th of the race finished. That was too easy!

4. Mile 4

I still don’t feel tired. I feel on top of the world! The rest of this is going to be a breeze.

5. Mile 5

My legs are going to look so good when this is all said and done.

6. Mile 6

A 10k is done. That’s, like, almost halfway there. I can do this!

7. Mile 7

This water is jostling in my stomach and it makes me wanna throw up.

8. Mile 8

My legs are on fire. I want to go home. This isn’t fun anymore.

9. Mile 9

How can anyone do a full marathon ever?

10. Mile 10

That bush looks like it would make a cozy bed. Or that curb. Or that tree stump.

11. Mile 11

Am I actually hitting a wall? Can I actually do this? I just want to eat some bread.

12. Mile 12

Almost there. Let me cross that finish line even if I have to crawl.

13. Mile 13

There is no way this is a mile. This has to be at least 5 miles.

13.1

HOLY CHEETOS I DID IT!!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
