13 Stages Of An All-Nighter
Markus Pe

For anyone who has ever stayed up late to write a paper, you know there's a possibility you could stay up all night. Writing papers tends to take longer than anticipated and it's just a matter of time before your first all-nighter of the year. Anyone facing mid-terms or (probably not yet) finals could agree. Here are many of the stages of an all -nighter

1. Procrastination: It happens to the best of us. You think, "Oh I'll have time later," and then it turns out you don't really...

2. Writer's Block: Also happens to the best of us. Writer's block in this situation could be caused by any number of things, especially the burning desire to get the paper done.

3. Mad rush: You finally get inspiration. You know what to write! You're so excited that you rush to get to get your papers done....until you run out of ideas...

4. Coffee: You're starting to get to that point in the night where you usually go to bed. However, you can't afford to sleep yet because you still have a few pages to write. Coffee. Coffee is good for waking up right? Yeah...

5. Acceptance: That's it. You've done it. There's no way you're going to get sleep tonight. You've already written so much of your paper, but there's so much more to do. Might as well take a small break, maybe get a snack.

6. Fatigue: You don't think your body can handle it anymore. You've stayed up for so long, but you just need sleep right? Just one more page....

7. More Coffee: You've realized that last page has turned into two and you just want to give up for the night. But you still have that unforgiving paper looming over you, so you make some more coffee.

8. Second Wind: This time you've done it. You've made a break through. You're almost done with that paper! Maybe you can get some sleep, even though it's currently 3:30 AM. If you can just power through the adrenaline will keep you up.

9. More Coffee - Again: You're adrenaline is wearing off. Time to make some more coffee....

10. Slap-Happy: As if you were struggling enough to focus, your body decided to give you some more energy to try to fight with. Problem is that you are now struggling to focus and all that energy isn't helping anything. On top of all that, now you're giggling at everything.

11. More Procrastination: Remember what focus is? Yeah that's a thing. So you think maybe a break will be good for you.

12. Completion: You've done it! Mission accomplished. Achievement unlocked. Now, if there's enough time, you might be able to take a nap before your first class today...

13. Sleep: Whether you're able to catch that nap early on or not, you know you will sleep like the dead tomorrow...

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
