I know most of you have probably heard about 13 Reasons Why. Whether you read it or have watched the series, I'm sure it has affected you in one way or another, whether you agree with how it depicts mental health or not. Here's "13 Reasons Why" you should think twice about what you say or do to someone, in overlooked quotes from both the novel and series.

1. People face different battles.

"You don’t know what goes on in anyone’s life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can’t be that precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re messing with their entire life. Everything affects everything." (Asher, 201)

2. Depression is real.

"If you hear a song that makes you cry and you don't want to cry anymore, you don't listen to that song anymore. But you can't get away from yourself. You can't decide not to see yourself anymore. You can't decide to turn off the noise in your head." (Asher, 178)

3. Words cut like knives.

"Even though someone appears to shrug off a sideways comment or to not be affected by a rumor, it’s impossible to know everything else going on in that person’s life, and how we might be adding to his or her pain. People do have an impact on the lives of others; that’s undeniable."

4. Rumors aren't just rumors.

"When you hold people up for ridicule, you have to take responsibility when other people act on it." (Asher, 53)

5. Rape culture is NOT funny.

"Here's a tip. If you touch a girl, even as joke, and she pushes you off: Leave. Her. Alone. Don't touch her anywhere. Just stop." (Asher, 52)

6. Be careful what you say.

“What you don't understand, you can make mean anything.”

7. Never underestimate a statement.

"It’s like whoever wrote this note just wants attention. If they were serious, they would have told us who they were.” (Asher, 171)

8. People change.

“There are two reasons why people change. One: they've learned a lot. Two: they've been hurt too much."

9. Every action has a consequence.

"If only we could see the endless string of consequences that result from our small action."

10. Breaking promises can break a heart.

"Betrayal. It's one of the worst feelings." (Asher, 13)

11. Treat other with kindness.

“It has to get better. The way we treat each other and look out for each other. It has to get better somehow.”

12. You don't know who is looking up to you.

"I guess that's the point of it all: No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people. Oftentimes, we have no clue. Yet we push it just the same."

13. Everything you do/say can affect anyone, at any time.

"Because it may seem like a small role now, but it matters. In the end, everything matters." (Asher, 13)

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can also hurt me. Sticks and stones break only skin, while words are ghosts that haunt me. Pain from words has left its scar, on a mind and heart that's tender. Cuts and bruises now have healed; it's words that I remember.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
