1. Street suffering such a massive injury in the first game of the season taught us that not everything is guaranteed in life and to live day by day.
2. Smash using steroids taught us that the best way to achieve something is to truly work for it. There are no shortcuts in life.
3. Matt singing to his grandma on his first date with Julie taught us that family is everything and that they're always worth the sacrifice.
4. Lyla returning to the cheerleading team after being bullied for sleeping with Riggins taught us that petty high school drama isn't worth throwing your dreams away.
It's not worth your time at all actually, trust me. It also taught us to go after whoever you want to be with. Popularity and rumors are irrelevant.
5. When Landry tutored Riggins for his book report, we learned that sometimes people need an extra hand.
Not everyone learns the same way or even has the same motivation to learn in the first place.
6. Tyra's mother confronting Mr. Garrity about him firing her and hiding their relationship outside of the church taught us to stand up for ourselves.
We don't have to hold in our problems and people need to be held accountable for their actions.
7. Riggins' adorable relationship with the neighbor kid, Bo, taught us to open our hearts to little minds.
All they're looking for is answers and they aspire to be as great as the people who inspire them, like Riggins did for Bo in teaching him to stand up for himself and how to throw a spiral.
8. When Coach Taylor built a football field out of a pasture, he taught us that the world is what you make it.
He needed a fair game, so he made one.
9. Julie and Saracen break up, which taught us that not all "young love" is meant to last forever.
But then, they get back together and he eventually proposes, which showed us that love comes back around and "what's meant to be, will be."
10. When Landry's dad helps to cover up his son's murder, he's proving to us that most parents really would do anything to protect their children.
11. When Saracen admitted how he feels about "everybody leaving him," we understand that not everyone is blessed with the picture perfect family.
Some children have to take on a lot more responsibility than the average child and that's not always a widely known fact.
12. Tyra's mother distracting her from her school work and continuing to tell her "it's not going to happen for her" helped us to understand that we, ourselves, are our best motivators.
When Tyra got into college, that was a very proud moment for her because she did it for herself.
13. When Santiago admitted that this was 'his first real bed" to Mr. Garrity, we opened our hearts once again, to a child in need of some encouragement and care.
Santiago had a rough life and no one looking out for him... The town of Dillon changed that and opened many more doors for his future. It truly does take a village to raise a child. Santiago coming into the picture opened our eyes to the bitter truth that some children really do grow up without ever having a bed of their own and food on the table.
