Welcome back to school! I know summer may have been great, but this school year is going to be even better! Junior year was a pain and now you're ready to start fresh! But don't go in empty-handed! Here are some goals to consider for ALL high school seniors that will make your last year of high school the best you've had yet!

1. Peak!

All of high school you've been working to be the top dog, and now you are! Get excited and stay excited! Be at your most enthusiastic ALWAYS.

2. But don't "peak"

But at the same time, this should not be the climax of your life. Senior year is meant to prepare you for the next step, so don't lose sight of why you're there.

3. Try something new

By now you're probably in a routine. Break it. Find a new sport or club. It's not healthy to confine yourself to what you already know.

4. Don't let your grades slip

Senioritis is real and you're going to get it, but just know that a sub par report card can tarnish a great year.

5. Talk to someone different

There are plenty of people left to learn from. If you don't reach out to people you don't usually talk to, you WILL regret it.

6. Build relationships with your teachers

Yes, this is important for letters of recommendation, but it also makes senior year so much more fun. Teachers are there for you, so it's rewarding to be there for them sometimes.

7. Walk away when someone tries to gossip

Come on, it's pointless. Senior year, high school should no longer be a popularity contest. At this point, if you still need social unrest to feel entertained, you aren't ready for senior year of high school.

8. Pace yourself with college apps

They're EXHAUSTING. It may be okay now, but at 10:00 pm on a due date when you feel like you're never going to be happy again, it's a different story.

9. Eat something different at lunch

Try the salad bar! Or the hot chocolate machine! Because why not?!

10. Reach out to underclassmen

You remember upperclassmen when you were younger. Be the person you wanted them to be.

11. Let go of old grudges

Like gossip, it's pointless. Don't let it weigh you down, you have too much else to do.

12. Follow your gut

You're going to have to make some really tough decisions: choosing a college, inserting yourself in a new activity, talking to someone new.

13. But also give it a punch sometimes

Your gut is going to tell you not to love a certain college, try something new, or talk to someone different. Sometimes your gut is wrong. Force yourself to do what is scary, but you know is right.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
