Everybody has those embarrassing moments they think back on years later and wish had never happened. Sometimes it's something you can't control, but more often than not it's something you said or did that seemed cool at the time. Now thanks to social media, our best and worst embarrassing moments can live on forever. Even if you delete them, they always find a way back to you. Dating all the way back to middle school, here are some of the most embarrassing Facebook trends we've all been guilty of following. And for your own amusement, I've used my own Facebook posts.
1. Posting inside jokes that nobody understands but you and your friends
Clearly we thought this was funny enough to post, but I have no idea what it means today.
2. Publishing notes and tagging other people so they would have to do them too.
This was really popular at my school. I'm not sure why we felt the need to post one hundred personal facts on the Internet.
3. "Hacking" your friend's Facebook and posting about how much they love you.
I do love Rachael soooo much, but I don't think everybody loved seeing posts like this all the time.
4. Dramatic posts about how much your day sucked.
When I look at this I think to myself, "really Rachel?" Did the pool guy coming to clean the pool really ruin your whole day?
5. Dramatic posts about how much your day rocked.
Yeah, I have no idea what happened that day.
6. Posting quotes or song lyrics as your status.
I used to post a lot of emotional song lyrics and quotes. I'm glad that isn't a thing anymore.
7. Highly edited (often Picnik) photos.
Although everyone still edits the photos they post today, at least they don't look like this anymore.
8. Posting albums full of Photo Booth photos.
Again, not sure what my thought process was in posting this and pictures like this.
9. Poke wars...
What is the point of the poking function? I never understood that, still don't.
10. Posting a play-by-play of your entire day.
Or the entire weekend in my case. I'm sure that nobody cared about what I did that weekend.
11. "Like for a tbh," "like for a confession" and other similar posts.
You have to wonder how honest people are when they post something on Facebook for the world to see.
12. "Like this status if..."
"Like this status if you're going to the football game." "Like this status if you have 'B' lunch." I don't think I ever acted on any of these posts.
13. Having your friends listed as family members
This one is self-explanatory.
I don't post statuses that often on Facebook anymore, but I'm hoping that I won't look back at the things I'm posting today and regret.
