Believe it or not, FOMO is a very real condition, especially when you attend a campus as lively as Ohio University. Our events range from partying with Aaron Carter on Court Street to gettin' low with the Ying Yang Twins on South Beach. (Seriously though, how many universities can say that?)
There comes a time in every Bobcat's life where the stars don't align and you miss out on something really fun. Unfortunately, that's just the way life and FOMO are. With the help of social media, FOMO can completely consume you. An overwhelming feeling of sadness and isolation will occur as you realize your friends are out making memories and you're not there to share it with them. If you're an upperclassman, I'm sure you understand how much FOMO exists, and if you're a freshman, here is a little taste of what you will probably be missing out on at some point in college.
1.When you're too tired to go to after hours, and you see how much fun it looked on Snapchat:
2. When you go home for a weekend and your GroupMe is blowing up with fun plans:
3. When it's beautiful outside, and you can't go to happy hour because you're in class:
4. When your friends plan a spring break trip and you can't attend:
5. When you don't get invited to see a movie at the Fun Barn because it's for couples only:
6. When you just graduated and half of the people you follow on Instagram still go to OU:
7. When you don't get invited to the ACACIA date party and your friends do:
8. When your fake ID gets denied at the bar that everyone is at:
9. When you can't even afford to go out for 50 cent draft night at Pawpurr's:
When you're a Rho Gamma and can't associate yourself with your sorority:
When your boss schedules you to work during a fest:
When you have to wait a whole summer before returning to campus:
The truth is, you're probably going to miss out on a lot of fun activities and events in your college career. But, think of it this way: There is always going to be another party, formal, beer Olympics or happy hour during your four years at OU. Don't sweat the small stuff, because you might end up missing out on something else!
