12 Ways To Procrastinate In College

Working out isn't what I should be doing, but it isn't unhealthy, so...

I have responsibilities and I don't like it. I think it'd just be better to avoid them all until the last possible second, don't you? I'm sure you don't need any help finding ways to procrastinate, but in case you do, here are some of my personal favorites:

1. Read Odyssey/Buzzfeed articles

I see you. Right now you're reading this article to procrastinate something, and I fully support you. Odyssey articles are fun pieces from young people talking about what is important in today's society. You're simply keeping up with the news.

2. Take personality quizzes

Do I need to know what season I am based on what I want my future house to look like? No... but it's fun to pick favorites. And some of the quizzes are so ludicrous that I can't not take them. Like how do people come up with these ideas?

3. Start a new Netflix show

Netflix, or any other streaming services for that matter, somehow knows exactly the worst times to introduce you to your next favorite binge show. For instance, I started Stranger Things two days ago... and you better believe I finished the entire first season before season two came out.

4. Play an instrument

Or learn to play a new instrument. Learning new skills is always valuable. Also, playing music can be relaxing and get you more prepared to conquer your goals... or procrastinate more.

5. Get lost in Wikipedia

You look up one measly thing and then boom, you've fallen into the Wikipedia hole. Sure, you haven't done an ounce of your work, but now you know Ryan Reynolds' birthday, how much Deadpool grossed in the US, and how many Oscars Titanic won. That's useful information, right?

6. Talk to your housemates

Sure, you live with them and could hypothetically talk to them anytime, but right now, when you need to do ten other things, that's the perfect time to start a conversation and get to know their life story.

7. Look up new recipes and try them out

You have to eat... so why not be creative and try something new? Bonus points if you don't have the ingredients and have to run to the store.

8. Dive into nostalgia

Did you know that Webkinz is still a thing? Yeah, I didn't either until one night my friends and I were, surprise, procrastinating and stumbled upon it. Spoiler alert – it's not nearly as fun as it was 10 years ago.

9. Look at your planner

If you look at all the things you have to do and plan it out and make it look pretty, that's one step closer to doing it, right?

10. Clean your room

You aren't technically doing what you are supposed to be doing, but you also are being productive. I'd call it a success.

11. Work out

Once again, is it what you should be doing? No. Is it bad for you? Also no. Run away from your problems... literally!

12. Sleep

Catch up on sleep. We all need it, plus it requires zero energy. Especially now that the weather is getting colder, it's a perfect opportunity to snuggle up and stay warm as well.

Disclaimer: I don't condone procrastination... however, if you do it, you should do it right. Stay busy, my friends.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
