Not able to get down to your favorite beach spot? Are you the only one of your friends on break this week? Don't worry! You can make your week at home seem like a much-needed vacation to finish out the semester strong. Here are some of the best parts about having a "staycation."

1. It's free.

Don't feel like you're missing out because you didn't go somewhere. You may not have the funds or you may just enjoy being home with your family and being stress-free. Neither is something to be ashamed of.

2. Spend some time with your parents.

I know that this one doesn't always sound too appealing on the outside, but spending some good quality time with your mom and dad is beyond much needed after several weeks away and admit it, you miss them too (sometimes more than they miss you).

3. Catch up on sleep.

Sleeping is just as important to your body as physical exercise, even more so if you're a sleep-deprived college student. Sleep in a little bit, no one is going to judge you. they all know you've been working really hard this semester.

4. Treat yourself.

Whether that means getting your nails done, going shopping, or even having a spa day, to something to reward yourself for all the hard work you've put into the semester.

5. Read.

This is the last thing on most of our minds as we are forced to read for school, but recreational reading is seriously the best. Use the time off to read something different than your calculus or physics book.

6. Look for a summer job/internship.

This one really isn't too fun, but why not get ahead while you have the time to do so. It's the perfect time to make sure you'll have a productive summer.

7. Visit your friends.

The struggle of college is there are very few times that your spring break will actually line up with any of your peers'. Take your time off to go visit some of your friends at their schools.

8. Redesign/rearrange your bedroom.

One of my favorite things to do is to rearrange my room. Not only does it force me to clean it while home, but it feels like a brand new room. Every time you come home, it'll feel totally different and new.

9. Bond with your siblings.

One of the perks of having a younger sibling is having someone to miss you when you're gone and be more than excited for your return. They might not admit it, but they've missed you just as much as you've missed them. Use your stress-free week to bond and catch up with them and their life. You aren't around all the time anymore, so you could be missing out on much more than you think.

10. Pretend your house is a vacation spot.

No, I don't mean to treat your family like maids, but use your backyard as a vacation spot. Lounge out in a lawn chair or on a towel and soak up some sun.

11. Visit your favorite hometown spots.

Coming from a small town, we don't really have tons of famous history. With that being said, I will always have my favorite spots around town. For me, it includes visiting some of my old high school teachers or eating at one of our towns oldest restaurants.

12. Recharge for the rest of the semester.

Finish strong! Use this time to completely relax. Enjoy your week off from class and enjoy being in the comfort of your own home. There really is no place like it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
