12 Ways To Ruin A First Date

Please don't be this person...unless you don't want them to ever hit you up again.

Going on a first date may seem very nerve-wracking. The number one most important thing on a first date is to be yourself and respect the person that you are on a date with. After the date, you are always worrying about how it went. If days go by and you haven't spoken, then something most definitely went wrong. Still don't know why? Here are a few reasons why he/she is probably not hitting you up after the first date.

1. Texting while he/she is talking.

Remember, this person took the time out of their day to meet with you. Taking out your phone is the most disrespectful thing to do on a date. If you are not willing to pay attention to your partner, then why are you even on the date? Instagram can wait.

2. Mentioning your past relationships.

STOOOOOOOOOOOP! Because who wants to hear about someone else’s past relationships? Exactly, no one. Try to avoid talking about your ex who did you wrong or your trip to Mexico with him/her. That’s a big no-no.

3. Showing up late.

Especially without a valid reason. If you don’t let the person know that you’re running late, then it will feel like your date is being stood up. If you’re not sure about traffic, use your navigator app on your phone to gage the amount of time it will take to the date site (since it usually shows the traffic beforehand).

4. Not having money to pay for the bill.

Ladies especially, you can’t just assume your date is going to be a gentleman and pay for everything. Unless you want to spend the rest of the night washing dishes with the staff in the kitchen.

5. Only talking about yourself...

It’s important to listen to what the other person has to say. Always ask questions to show your date that you are interested in them. Talking about yourself shows your date that you only care about yourself and you don’t care about what he/she has to say.

6. Showing up drunk.

I get it we’re all nervous before a date and we need to calm our nerves, but this is definitely NOT the answer to all of your problems.

7. Mentioning sex.

If you’re trying to date for a relationship, having sex right off the bat is not the way to start. He/she will probably only see you as a one night stand. Plus, talking about sex on the first date just shows you’re only in it for the bedroom scene.

8. Talking about your problems.

They literally just met you…I don’t think your date cares about that co-worker you can’t stand or how your friend dogged you out in 7th grade, or how high your rent is.

9. Checking out another male/female.

This is self-explanatory…Get prepared for a drink to be thrown in your face.

10. Cursing…

This is so unattractive honestly. If you can’t help it, please try your hardest to tone it down.

11. Bad hygiene / Not taking care of your teeth.

I mean, this is an automatic turn-off.

12. Not being yourself!

Always be yourself on the date. Don’t try to pretend to be someone you aren’t just to make someone like you. Your date is more likely to like you already because he/she thinks you’re probably genuine to begin with.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
