They are one-half of the dynamic duo. They are actually pretty funny guys, though we rarely admit that. They are working hard every day to give us the world. They are our biggest supporters. They are the greatest men we could ever know but all they get is one day a year for us to sit back and realize that.

I try to show my appreciation to my dad as much as I can but sometimes those words get lost among others as life whizzes past us and we struggle to keep up. So take time out of today (and every other day) to think about your dad. Think about how great he is and everything he manages to do to give you the best life possible.

Think about how your dad is a super hero.

1. He has super strength.

*Coincidentally starts to work out again now that his daughters are of dating age*

2. He is able to fly.

Aka–he doesn't understand that to make a turn, you need to step on the brake!

3. He has alter-egos.

It's like Batman and Spider-man... but not at all. Why have people call you Mr. _________ when they can just as easily refer to you as Big Papi?

4. He drives a Batmobile.

For some reason, his car is known around town. Whether it be his new midlife crisis convertible or his huge truck constantly carrying a ton of kids around.

5. He has super human memory.

Something as small as a napkin will make my dad recite lines from old tv shows. I'll never understand the humor of Seinfeld, but that guy can't get enough of it.

6. He doesn't need to sleep.

This might be more like a vampire than a superhero, but seriously, how do they get up at 5 a.m. every day without an alarm? And then function? Incredible. I hope I never personally experience that.

7. He has a catchphrase.

And he'll never stop saying it, no matter how many times you groan.

8. He has a civilian look.

Normally includes his reading glasses that he got three for $10 at Costco and the morning paper.

9. He has a superhero costume.

Or his old college team uniform that he'll keep forever.

10. He has the power to know everything.

There can be a fact–a true, widely believed, proven fact–but if your dad believes the opposite then he'll think that he's right and the rest of the world is wrong.

11. He has superhuman speed.

This has everything to do with how long it takes him to finish his dinner and nothing to do with his mile time.

12. He is susceptible to kryptonite.

Like every classic superhero, he has a weakness. What's my dad's weakness you ask? Me. When he's with me, he can't say the word no.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
