12 Verses To Overcome Worry

With this college semester starting back, it can be easy to become stressed and worry over the ever-growing pile of homework and reading assignments. Here are some scriptures to help you remember that you don’t have to worry about anything—including the mountain of class work you see before you. For those who aren’t in college, these verses are still applicable to anything you may be going through.

1. Matthew 6:33-34 NIV

“But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

2. II Timothy 1:7 NKJV

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

3. Isaiah 26:3 NLT

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

4. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

5. Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

“’Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.’”

6. I Peter 5:7 NLT

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”

7. Psalms 118:6 ESV

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

8. Romans 8:37 AMP

“Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.”

9. Philippians 4:6-7 MSG

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

(I know I already used these verses, but I couldn’t help but put them twice!)

10. Psalms 55:22 NLT

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”

11. Romans 8:28 NKJV

“And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

12. Psalms 29:11 KJV

“The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace."

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
