I recently visited Colorado for a business trip. I had only ever been there once before, and I fell in love with it. Needless to say, I was super excited to come back.
Here are 8 thoughts I had during my trip to Denver, Colorado:
1. Is bohemian the newest trend, or is it just a Colorado thing?
There was so much bohemian-themed paraphernalia, it was actually kind of overwhelming. Headbands, scarves and oh yeah— a boho braid book.
2. Where'd the humidity go?
But actually, stepping out of that airport into the Colorado dry air was the best sensation. I wasn't sticky and grody. It's amazing.
3. Weed is actually legal, what?
So I walked into a dispensary to kill my curiosity. After all, they're only legal in a handful of states as of now. To sum it up, it seemed like an adult candy store. There were so many strains in glass containers, cookies, gummies, chocolate, and my personal favorite, "Pot Rocks" (instead of Pop Rocks, get it?)
I found the whole thing pretty hilarious and thought about how crazy it is that you could go to jail for possessing any in most states, but in Colorado, you can walk out of a dispensary with an ounce of weed. That's insane.
4. I never noticed how much I enjoy art.
Denver is such an artistic city. I saw so many beautiful murals, structures, statues, gardens and randomly placed peculiar items. There were these super cute pianos all throughout the 16th Street mall. After some research, I learned they were painted by students of a public piano art program— absolutely beautiful.
5. What's that smell?
Just kidding— We all know what that was.
6. I belong here.
We all have favorite locations that carry a lot of sentiment. Those places for me are Virginia, where I was raised, and State College, the college town where my alma mater is located. Unlike those places, I've never lived in Denver. For some reason, I had that same sense of familiarity. I'm definitely going back.
7. How far will I go?
I was referring to the "Moana" soundtrack. Yeah— I listened to my toddler's music without her. I flippin' missed her okay?
8. Is anyone... Unhappy?
I legitimately didn't notice anyone unhappy. On my way back to my hotel one night, I drove by a homeless community— even they looked happy to be apart of their community. Denver is such an uplifting place!
