As we grow older and get into jobs that we have the potential to be in for years, it’s important to form good relationships with co-workers. If you are lucky enough, you will even find a new BFF (or two). These are the people that you see eight hours a day, 40 hours a week and roughly 2,080 hours a year, so they really do become an integral part of your world. Sometimes we might forget to tell these wonderful beings how thankful we are to have them. So here are the things you should be thanking your work BFF for:
1. Letting me complain about work and also life.
Not only are you the only person who will understand my work complaints, but by now you know most the details of my personal life too. You are always there to lend a listening ear and let me vent about the things I’ll probably forget about by tomorrow.
2. Disliking all the same people I do.
Like that lady who never silences her phone or the guy who always walks a little too close behind us. We can always agree on the people who bug us the most.
3. Coffee breaks.
You are always down for a coffee break. Whether it’s to have a vent session or literally because we just need some caffeine to keep going.
4. Being my lunch date almost every day.
Lunch is always the best part of the day; especially when it’s with you.
5. And for sharing your lunch with me when I forget mine.
Thanks for sharing with me on those few days I forget to bring something. Share your food with me and you’re stuck for life – kind of like a stray.
6. Making the day go by quicker.
This is the biggest one. On days when you’re gone it feels like it’s been a whole decade in just eight hours. Please don’t ever leave me again!
7. Communicating with me through only a facial expression.
If we're in a boring meeting or someone tells a dumb joke, I know all I have to do is look at you. We can communicate a whole conversation with just a handful of facial expressions.
8. Giving me valuable life advice.
You’re always there to give me the advice that I need to hear. And it’s actually pretty solid advice since you are usually unbiased.
9. Being the best damn happy hour date.
After a long day of BS, I sometimes need a drink – or five. I know I can always count on you to come with.
10. Helping me with some of my best ideas.
You are always there to help me get creative. Sometimes just talking with you is enough to come up with something brilliant.
11. Always encouraging me along the way.
And of course, you are always there to support me in anything I do. We both love to see each other succeed and we cheer each other on along the way.
12. But most of all for just being you.
Because my days would suck considerably without you by my side.
