Admit it, you probably sat in the library or your room for countless hours leading up to finals week. Maybe you went to three or four review sessions and office hours just to hopefully get a good grade. Sleepless nights, long days and no time to relax took quite a toll on your body. Maybe you were hoping to achieve that perfect 4.0 or possibly you were studying just hoping you passed the class, but either way the stress is over now and relaxation is on the agenda. There were so many things you couldn't do during finals week or even the weeks prior, therefore why not do them all now?
1. Hope you did well
Nothing's worse than not knowing how you did on your exam. The moment you walk out of the testing room your mind will swell with regret, confusion, and uneasiness. Nothing seems to be able to settle your nerves until you final grade is submitted online.
2. De-stress yourself with an adult coloring book
Theres nothing better than losing yourself in a coloring book. I mean who wouldn't want to color a pig blue or a bear red. Sometimes though, your classy pictures turn into something like this, and thats okay.
3. Eat somewhere besides the dining hall
Say goodbye to bottomless salads and mystery meat and say hello to mom's famous mashed potatoes, pasta, and chicken! Who ever knew those home cooked meals we all dreaded at some point could taste so good?
4. Go to the beach/pool
What better way is there to destress than diving into a nice refreshing pool on a warm day? Splashing around, playing volleyball in the pool, or just laying on the hot sand at the beach, getting outside seems to make everything better
5. Sleep in your own bed
My favorite part about going home is being able to spend the night in my own bed. Who needs a uncomfortable twin xl that has been slept on by dozens of people when you can sleep in your bed at home. Catch up on the z's you missed during finals week and feel refreshed.
6. Eat the feelings you're having about your GPA
I'd like to take a moment to thank my good friends Ben and Jerry for being the light at the end of my finals week. I mean who wouldn't want to eat an entire carton of ice cream to de-stress themselves? (The answer is me!)
7. Cry when thinking about the fact that you need a job
It's the end of the semester. You spent all your money on clothes, food, tuition, rent, among other things and now you're broke. Nobody wants to work, but unless you want to spend you're entire summer and upcoming semesters broke, you might wanna get off your couch and find yourself a job.
8. Destroy unwanted notes
Who needs those orgo notes? What about those econ pretests? Throw them all in a fire and all it a day (disclaimer: you might not want to set your laptop on fire).
9. Indulge in a Netflix and Chill by yourself
Now that the semester is over you're free to indulge in as many "Grey's Anatomy," "House of Cards," "Orange Is The New Black" and "Breaking Bad" episodes as your heart desires. Combine this tip with number six for an unforgettable day/week/month/summer.
10. Make money by selling textbooks
Why take up valuable room with unwanted textbooks? Sell them back to the school's bookstore, amazon or even on eBay to earn a few bucks! Discarding clutter and making money? Count me in!
11. Move out
Time to pack up all the stuff you packed last August. That drawer of party outfits that were of use every weekend and that tote of nice clothes that haven't been touched in months. The decorations cluttering your walls and all the trash laying on the ground all need to go. Its time to leave but it's only temporary. Hopefully you'll be back again in a few months!
12. Thank professors and TAs
Thank you to the professor that bumped up my overall average by 2 points to get a B+ and "thanks" to the professor that wouldn't bump me up .3 to get an A even though I studied for weeks.
I'll admit this semester was a good one, but I'm so happy I'm done. Theres nothing worse than stressing out about grades, exams, and other pointless issues. Until next semester, I'll be distressing and relaxing because in a few short months, I'll have to do it all over again.
