12 Things I Am Thankful For This Thanksgiving
Emily Washbourn

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the year that has passed since the last time you found yourself in front of trays of endless food and think about what is really important in your life. Some things that you may be thankful for are very core to your identity and who you are as a person. However, other stuff may be trivial but hey, it's the little things right? So as the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving rolls around, here is what I am thankful for this year.

1. My Family

This is a no-brainer. I wouldn't have anything in life if it wasn't for my family so obviously they are number one on the list of things to be thankful for.

Thanks mom and dad for the endless support and sending me pictures of our cat even when I am away at school and to my siblings for at least pretending to be excited when I come home for breaks like these. I'm also grateful for my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins who always visit me while I'm at school, bring me out for real food and make family vacations a lot crazier but a lot more fun! Fighting over who gets to take the extra onions and Nutella home after vacation would just be weird with anyone else.

2. My Friends

Another cliche but who isn't thankful for the people who put up with you 24/7?! Thank you for the endless laughs, hugs, emotional support, letting me complain about literally everything and fake laughing when I show you something from Twitter that I found hilarious but you don't get. I am forever in debt to you guys!

3. My Education

I am lucky enough to attend my dream school and cherish every second of it. From my Communication classes to Basketball games, being at Villanova is always a blessing. #GoCats

4. Brunch

Basic x 10000000000 but brunch is the greatest thing in the world, especially on the Main Line. As my friend has said, "I've never brunched harder anywhere else."

5. Tea

Tea is probably one of my favorite beverage in the entire world and I am thankful that it exists every chilly day or when my throat hurts.

6. My Cat

Like any other pet owner, you have to be thankful for your furry companion. I love my cat no matter how much my dog loving peers like to make fun of me for it because you know what, cats are equal to or better than dogs. There, I said it!!!

7. The Office

Shoutout to my all time favorite T.V. show. Thanks for making me laugh, even when I've heard the joke 10 times before.

8. Free T-Shirts

I will do anything for a free t-shirt and I am forever grateful for the opportunities to get one because there is literally nothing better than a big, comfy shirt you didn't have to pay for.

9. Soccer

I may not play consistently anymore but I am still thankful for the sport that shaped my life from a young age.

10. My Sorority

Without my sorority, I wouldn't have met some amazing girls, gotten involved or have chapter to look forward to every Sunday so thanks, ladies!

11. Reputation

Okay I LOVE Taylor Swift's new album so after a four year wait, I am extremely thankful for this new music... especially after being scared with her first couple of singles. But for real... End Game with Ed Sheehan and Future!??!?! Just one of many amazing tracks.

12. Myself (a weird thing to be thankful for, right?)

It is easy to wrapped up into the everyday struggles of life, get upset over things that don't matter or feel like your life sucks a little sometimes.

But at the end of the day, we all have things that we are thankful for and once you stop to think about it, you realize that as long as you have those things, your life is pretty great. Sometimes you have to stop and thank yourself for putting up with all life throws at you and congratulate yourself because remember, "you didn't come this far to only come this far." So yes, I am thankful for myself, my health, my life and all those in it this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
