Becuase I truly have zero diverse interests, here I am once again writing about music. I went to a concert last week and I'm going to another one next week. This could be why I have no money, however, it's the only thing that makes me happy so I see no issue with going to lost of shows. In honor of concerts, I'm going to give you twelve songs you should (already) be listening to.
1. God Save Our Young Blood
The latest from Borns gives me chills. He decided to team up Lana Del Rey who, everyone knows, is one of my FAVORITES. Their voices sound like they were made for each other and I'm asking myself why this collaboration didn't happen sooner. If you're already looking forward to 80-degree weather and lemonade, then "God Save Our Young Blood" is for you.
2. My My My!
Troye Sivan has been hinting about releasing new music for awhile and like a dufus, I've been hanging on his every word. And finally, this year, my dreams came true. I feel like Troye puts his heart and soul into his music and once again, he did not disappoint. "My My My!" is the kind of song you listen to while you're getting dressed to pump you up or when you're riding around with your friends. Very good 10/10 would recommend.
3. The Record Player Song
If you're into funny story songs, this one is for you! Daisy The Great describes the awkward, messy way they live their life through funny sentiments such as "I died my hair blue/it came out a sea-sick sorta green" The song overall is hilarious and if you're into quirky folk-inspired songs, please give "The Record Player Song" a listen.
4. Turn
My name is Drew and I really like indie/alternative bands. Now that that's out of the way, I can talk about why I like The Wombats. Lyrically, they're intriguing with the way they phrase even the simplest of situations. Also, all of their songs are just fun to listen to itas in they warm your insides. And obviously their newest single, "Turn" is no different.
5. The Tide
Well just so everyone is aware, Pale Waves is my new favorite band. I'm half kidding I could never abandon The 1975 but they are taking quite a minute with their new music. Anywho, Pale Waves are on the same label as The 1975 and opened for them on part of The North Ameican Leg of their last tour. Pale Waves has a very '80s pop sound, such as the kind of music you may find a John Hughes film or at an 80s prom. And frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie has the aesthetic I aspire to. "The Tide" is my favorite Pale Waves song which means a lot because it's so difficult to choose.
6. Heavenly
"Heavenly" is also by Pale Waves so basically just insert everything I just said here. I just really want people to listen to Pale Waves.
7. Going To Mars
To me, Judah & the Lion sort of have this sound very similar to Mumford & Sons. However, in my opinion, the sound better because it's less folky and more guitar-heavy than Mumford & Sons. "Going To Mars" is a song about learning that there isn't one correct path in life and that you can be successful no matter what if you believe in yourself. Wich is super inspiring AND it's great to listen to?! Isn't that what everyone wants in a song?!
8. Anarchist
Yungblud is the boy I wanna marry just letting everyone know. I love his music because he tackles serious subjects in a thoughtful way. This song is no different. He talks about how he was a bit of a rambunctious child and how this came to him being diagnosed with ADHD. It's also kind of anthem for the outcast kids and I have "Anarchist" written on one of my whiteboards in my room because of this song.
9. Everybody Wants To Be Famous
This song is really fun as far as it's sound but the subject matter is somewhat serious. This song is about how people nowadays will do pretty much anything to gain fame hence it's called "Everybody Wants To Be Famous."
10. Want You Back
The long-anticipated return of 5 Seconds of Summer has finally happened. When I first heard "Want You Back" I was a little angry because I thought my boys had sold out to the industry and started making pop music. But I actually do like the song and they haven't lost the power of making catchy music that gets stuck in my head. So, kudos to you 5SOS! I missed Michael, Ashton, Luke and Calum more than you know.
11. Different
I heard this song about a month ago for the first time and I was floored. It's the classic alternative grunge-inspired sound I adore. And The Academic are just a tiny Irish band. If you like guitar-heavy alternative rock, I can guarantee you will love "Different."
12. Growing Pains
The second I learned that COIN would be releasing new music, I was patiently waiting. I saw them tweet that this song would be out on February 9th, so the day it came out I added it to my playlist without listening to it first. I don't often do that but I guess my brain knew it would be great. "Growing Pains" is definitely one of my favorite songs right now and I feel that it's a strong candidate for song of the summer. I've already listened to it at offensive volumes in my car and in my room. I love to dance to "Growing Pains." Your ears will love you for listening to it.
