School’s finally out for the summer—at least for college students on the east coast. Either way, there’s wanting a vacation from school, and then there’s wanting to go on vacation, period. But is it really the best choice? Here are 20 reasons not to go on vacation this summer.
1. You'll miss your friends.
You may go out every weekend, but there's tons of more stuff to do together during the summer. You can't just up and leave them!2. You could miss out on potential internship opportunities.
Most internships require commitment for a minimum 10 weeks from June to August. So if you're planning a cruise for July, good luck.
3. Wherever you're going is probably going to be crowded anyway.
Especially if your destination of choice has "Disney" in its name.
4. You'll miss your bed.
Hotel beds are nice, but it doesn't quite feel the same as your own bed.
5. There's that one show on Netflix you need to binge-watch.
Netflix switches out their shows every month. You don't want to miss out on that one show you've been waiting to watch.
6. You need to relax.
Vacations can be relaxing, sure, but you just finished the semester. It's too early to start jet-setting and you don't want to worry about running around somewhere making sure you hit every single attraction.
7. You want to get in shape.
You'll want to feel ready for bikini season or else you won't enjoy your vacation.
8. You need to save money.
Students loans are coming, you know—especially if you're graduating this year.
9. You have other side projects.
Maybe you want to make a short film or start a new blog. You need all the time you have before school starts again.
10. You may want to get ahead in your studies.
Taking a summer class instead wouldn't hurt.
11. Home is where the heart is.
There's no place like it.
