12 Reasons Why Hillary Clinton Should Have Choosen Elizabeth Warren As A Running Mate

While Warren is the stronger candidate, Clinton has the nomination, which means she's going to need serious help to beat Trump.

12 Reasons Why Hillary Clinton Should Have Choosen Elizabeth Warren As A Running Mate

While I myself am not a huge fan of Hillary Clinton, I see her as a much better candidate than Donald Trump, and plan to vote for her only to vote against him. I do, however, support having a woman as president, since it’s long overdue. Nonetheless, I think that female presidents should be chosen the same way male presidents are because they’re the best person for the job. Out of Trump and Clinton, Clinton is the obvious choice, despite the fact that there are plenty of men and women better suited than her for president. One of these people is Elizabeth Warren. And while she’s not a presidential nominee, by running with Clinton, she could have strengthened the campaign against Trump. Here are 12 reasons why.

1. Warren is where Bernie Sanders got most of his ideas, and will probably do many of the same things he would, if given the power to do so.

Most of the people who don’t want to vote for either Clinton or Trump are Sanders supporters, and throwing Warren into the mix could have greatly helped democratic voter turnout. Of course, the fact that she came up with Sanders’ democratic socialist ideas doesn’t mean she wants to make the country a communist state. It simply means that she agrees that the wealth in America is poorly distributed, forcing the working class to work harder for less money. Like Sanders, she believes that the way to fix this is socialism in moderation, meaning places that provide public services (like state colleges and hospitals) are funded by the government. This also means that corporations would pay their fair share of the taxes, so therefore the struggling working class citizens wouldn’t have to worry about higher taxes in order to pay for the free healthcare and college.

2. She has experience as a Massachusetts senator.

This gives her the experience she needs to be a good vice president. One thing she suggested while in office is that student loans should have the same interest rate banks pay – 0.75 percent, as opposed to the average 3.4 percent interest rate most students pay today. This idea has more recently been one of the things Bernie Sanders campaigned under, and he reportedly got the idea from Warren.

3. She’s highly educated.

During the 1970's, '80s and '90s, Warren was a law professor at several different colleges, specializing in finance and bankruptcy, which she studied independently while she was working as a professor. Since working at Harvard, she has become one of the most cited law professors in the U.S.

4. She’s written several books about her findings in studying finances and bankruptcy.

Most of these have great reviews by publications such as the New York Times, and much of what she talked about was used by Bernie Sanders in his campaign.

5. Her rags-to-riches story is almost the same as Alexander Hamilton’s, as depicted in the Broadway musical.

When she was 12-years-old, her father had a heart attack, forcing him out of work due to medical reasons. To pay the bills, her mother got a job at Sears and Warren started waiting tables at the age of 13. In high school, she became known for her debating and academic skills, which got her a scholarship to George Washington University at the age of 16. She went there for two years before leaving to attend the University of Houston with Jim Warren, whom she had just married.

After graduation, taking care of her children at home, she began to work as a lawyer and take classes at a nearby college. Since then, she’s worked to improve America’s financial situation, much like Hamilton did in the 1700's. While Hamilton founded the national bank, Warren fights today to have all Americans pay their fair share of taxes and to have the rich not feed off the poor, as when college students are given a much higher interest than any other demographic.

6. She understands that no one in America ever got rich on their own.

Stating:

“There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did. Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”

7. Clinton’s Wall Street donors didn’t want her to choose Warren as a running mate.

This is because Warren and Sanders are the two people threatening Wall Street and large corporations in terms of financial plans. But as Bernie Sanders said last year, the reason is because Clinton is offering them tax loopholes in return. Warren, on the other hand, would not be so slimy. As she said in her quote, these large corporations aren't paying for the roads and police that help them every day. Everyone else did that. So why should these corporations get special treatment?

8. Many of the people who voted for Clinton in the primaries voted for her because they wanted a woman to be president.

Again, it’s long overdue for America to have a woman be president (but if that’s the only reason you’re voting, please at least do your research on all the candidates). Likewise, there will be a large percentage of people voting because they want a woman to be president. If Warren ran with Clinton, then these people would have had even more encouragement to vote because they’d have been voting for two women instead of one.

9. She’s hip with social media where Clinton isn’t.

Warren runs an active Twitter account, and has won campaigns in the past with viral videos, including a western-themed rap video. Her most recent viral videos have been attacking Trump for being a selfish man who is proud of not paying taxes and cheering on the financial crash of 2008.

10. She’s been posting online videos pointing out what a horrible candidate Trump is.

She points out that Trump is the first presidential candidate in 30 years to not disclose how much he pays in taxes. Warren recalls that years ago, Trump bragged that he paid no taxes, proving him to be just as self-interested as his opposition has been saying. Even if he does pay taxes today, then he may be trying to hide that he’s not as rich as he says he is, and is therefore a terrible businessman (since supposedly being a good businessman is one of the only things people like him for). So really, what does he have to hide?

11. Trump has retaliated to her videos.

However, rather than finding real reasons to insult her, he’s chosen to ridicule her possible Native American heritage, calling her names such as “Pocahontas.” These insults further prove her points and that he’s nothing more than a racist idiot.

12. Elizabeth Warren is a total BA, and most of the public knows it.

She was probably the most famous candidate for vice president, and out of Clinton’s options, she was definitely the coolest. And honestly, if people don’t know who she is, then they can do a little research and find out about all the things I’ve mentioned for themselves.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
