Attending college is a massive milestone to come to. It's new, it's different, and incredibly exciting, and this more often than not leads to a lot of misconceptions and grandiose ideas about what life away from home has in store for yourself. College is a blast, I promise that it is, but it's also a lot different than you might be anticipating on.
1. The first day of college will have you feeling...
No matter how prepared you are, it's a scary, scary day. Making new friends, leaving home, taking steps to being an actual adult...
2. You'll worry that you'll never make any friends or haven't made them yet...
3. Or worry that you'll have nothing of interest to say.
Stuck in small talk purgatory forever and ever.
4. You will be busy, but what free time you have will be such a gem.
5. The dorms are never as nice as the tour guides make them out to be.
When in reality...
6. Do not take 8 a.m classes. It's not like high school, they will be the hardest mornings of your life.
7.You can't expect to stay best friends with all the people you meet on the class page.
It's hard to really know what to expect from people online, and everyone is trying to be the "new and improved" version of themselves when they first get to school. It takes awhile for everyone to settle in and see who they really are.
8. The dreaded "Freshman 15" is too real.
You don't see it coming, but once it happens you'll feel a bit like this...
9. Parties are cool and all but try not to stroll into your first college party like...
Check yourself before you shrek yourself!
10. Exam week will have you feeling like...
11. And sometimes you'll get so stressed that you just want to give up.
And stress eat all the food.
12. But at the end of the day, you figure out a lot about yourself.
Just remember that at the end of the year you'll come out changed most likely for the better.
And hey, keep in mind that summer is always just a few months away.
