12 Hills You Can't Forget at Clemson University

If there's one thing you hear on Clemson University's campus, it's that "there's something in these hills."

Sitting at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, Clemson University is known far and wide for its school spirit and amazing football team. One thing that many don't know about Clemson, until they get to campus, is its hilly landscape. While there are many foothills that define the walking experience on campus, there are twelve we just can't forget.

1. Fort Hill Street (from the Stadium to Shoeboxes/Core)

They don't call it the "hell hill" for nothing. Trudging up this hill is a special form of torture, especially after a football game in Death Valley.

2. The Hill to and from R3

If you live on the west side of campus, you know how hard it is to simply get your car. It somehow manages to be uphill both ways you're going. Not only that, but more than likely, you'll have to go up the hill on Fort Hill Street too.

3. The Hill to and from C1

If parking wasn't hard enough, you also have to struggle up and down this hill at the start and end of your school day.

4. The Group of Hills Above the Amphitheater

This group of hills is often underestimated, especially when you're trying to rush to class. They are steeper than they look, and most end in an even steeper staircase.

5. The Hills Starting at Library Circle (to Hendrix and to Poole)

When you're trying to head anywhere from Library Circle, the only way is up.

6. Fernow Street Hill

It may be fun to go down, but it sure is a pain to go up. At least you can stop for a bite to eat to ease the pain.

7. Williamson Rd. Hill (from C2 to the Stadium, Behind Earle)

Truly the silent killer. It is a long, never-ending hike of pain. At least there's a graveyard on the way in case you don't make it.

8. Kite Hill

It's not the climb that puts Kite Hill on this list but having to park all the way over there for every home game. Not to mention waiting for Tiger Transit if you don't want to put yourself through the trauma of walking back.

9. Diagonal Path from Library Bridge to Fort Hill Street

It's that incline that you forget every time. You're walking and enjoying your day, and then suddenly, you have to walk uphill.

10. The Hill to the Rowing Center

It's all the way past the soccer fields and baseball stadium, hidden away behind a turn. If you're unfortunate enough to have to walk up this, or worse, run up it, best of luck to you.

11. The Dikes

It's an unnaturally steep angle for anything with grass on it to be at. Occasionally, you'll see an unfortunate soul attempting to run up it. I don't know how they do it because it's more like running up a wall than a hill.

12. THE Hill

The center of all the action during the most exciting 25 seconds of college football. This is the one hill you want to be on.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
